You ripen oh so beautifully
When the sunlight’s on your skin
But tears of sadness drip like dew drops
From your world within
I thirst to taste your juice so sweet
And pluck you from your pain
But on the vine beside your mate
You faithfully remain
My heart it folds around your smile
And sinks into your eyes
But as you stir it feels your chains
Then crumbles up and dies
You look at me with mutual thoughts
But love remains a mute
And all our feelings die of thirst
As you’re forbidden fruit
