Bright color of sickly red staled the once stagnant water of the toilet. The bodily fluid is too thick that I couldn't see the pristine bottom of it. In the liquid, there is something that's sticking out of the surface, in which my face went pale when I recognized the object.

Daffodils. Yellow petals drenched in blood.

I instantly knew what it all meant. Daffodils are once my favorite flowers. And working in a flower shop adds up the knowledge I have for these.

Daffodils are signs of unrequited love. And the fact that I spewed them out means that I have...

My lips twitched into a grin. I should've seen this coming. Looks like this so-called "love" of mine had taken its toll.

"Ha ha ha..." My voice was hoarse from the whole vomiting. My throat aches whilst I was chuckling, but my mind is too blank to care about anything.

Unwittingly, I had my back pressed against the wall, sliding my body down until I dropped to the floor. My chest became heavy. It's hard to breathe once again. Everything became a blur all of a sudden.

I brought a hand to my face in frustration, and there I realized that my eyelids are swollen, and there are already streams of tears cascading down my cheeks.

To think that I knew what I was getting myself into.. That I would wait for the right time for me to profess my feelings again, like I once did back under the willow tree...

With the remaining ounce of my strength, I screamed-- raising my leg before landing a rather loud kick on the wall in front of me out of pure stress and ire.

Cupid had struck me with one of his finest arrows, yet I was the only one who was hit.

...Guess that Cupid just saw me as a target practice all this time.

Out of nowhere, the sound of the door slamming echoed in the room.

"(Y/N)? Are you in here?" a virile voice called.

I didn't bother answering whoever the person was. Besides, I am not in the best shape to go on talking to people anyways.

Footsteps then started to clomp against the tiled floor. It continued to do so for a few moments before it stopped.

"(Y/N)!"

I felt a pair of hands on my shoulders after their outburst, hands gripping against my skin rather tight. The sudden contact brought me back to reality, making me face towards the person.

I'll be damned if I didn't say that I was surprised by who I saw with my very own eyes.

"E.. Edgeworth?" I spoke. He looks... worried. His brows scrunched up and the look on his face tells so.

"(Y/N), are you alright? You haven't returned since the verdict has been given. Maya and the others are worrie- " Edgeworth stopped all of a sudden.

I fear that he must've saw it...

Silence overcame the both of us for a while. It's kinda awkward to be honest, until Edgeworth finally spoke up.

"...Are those contents in the toilet what I think it is?" He asked, his tone sounded quite harsh. I'll be intimidated if I didn't know the guy.

I wanted to spare him from the mess I've made. He didn't need to see this. Out of all things anyone could've seen my very being, it has to be right here and right now..

"N-no. Just threw out some withered flowers in the court and it's that time of the month," I replied, trying to plaster what's probably the fakest smile I've ever attempted. It's a far-fetched lie, I know. But hey, at least I tried.
