Mom, of all the places in the world, why did we have to move here?!" I said slightly annoyed as I reached for my phone that my mom had plugged into the stereo.
"Oh come on Olivia, it's not that bad here," she said trying to calm her whining child. "This change can't be as bad as you think."
I rolled my eyes and sighed. I was so fed up with this nonsense. Mom had been pushing to move for so long, and when Dad died she pushed even harder. I guess that's a nice way to say that my mom runs from her problems. Yay. That's my family for ya.
"We're here," my mother said as she moved my black hair from my face and behind my ear. "Don't give me that frumpy face!" she cooed. I didn't even know I was scowling until she pointed it out. "And besides," she continued with a smirk, "I hear that their science program her in nationally ranked," I huffed and went to unlock the door.
When I got out of the car, I didn't know what to think, the house looked so small and so messed up, I remember my mom saying something like, "It's a bit if a fixer upper, but it'll be fun!" and by the looks of it, this was going to take a LONG time to 'fix up.'
"Well looks like I'll be busy for a long time." I said with a disappointed look on my face.
"Let's get to work!"my mom said with a rather large smile as I look at her very tired. She went to the trunk and pulled out a big box. She motioned for me to grab it from her. This was going to be the longest month of my life.
