Letting You Go (Poetry)

Goodbye.

I am letting you go, this is my closure.

I assume you already know who this is.

I lost myself trying to understand you, but I learned that I am simply not lost. I just forgot about myself for a while.

I am letting you go, thank you for the wonderful friendship and memories we had. The good, and the bad. I may not be a friend to you, but you were to me. Thank you.

I am letting you go, even though I don't want to. But I have to. It's for myself. You moved on, and so can I. So will I. I am moving on. You are not a bad person, you are going somewhere yourself and clearly I am not on it. Which is okay. I learned that I am not meant to be on everyone's paths, I am temporary.

Maybe we will meet at a coffee shop, or a bookstore. Maybe we will meet during a study group. Maybe you will be my tutor. Maybe you will be many things in my life, but I am letting you go, thank you.
