I walked into the rubble, receiving many nasty splinters, so I could dig through the remains of the home and maybe find something, anything, that can prove that someone is still here, watching over the magical children.

After digging for at least 10 minutes, I looked at the pile of things I had found, only to face disappointment. There was an old clay doll, a comb, a feather that had been framed, an old book titled "Tales of the Peculiar," a top hat, and a broken pair of goggles. Clearly possessions of the children or whoever watched over them that managed to survive the blow. I picked up the goggles, looking at them longingly. Nothing. I threw them at the ground in rage. It was time to look even harder.

I looked inside the old hat. Nothing. I flipped through the storybook, but most of the pages were too charred to read. I examined the doll, but it was just an old toy. There was nothing. These kids were gone. Dead. I had no hope now.

Without my realizing it, the rain had gotten even heavier, and lightning was beginning to form in the sky. I ran for shelter, tromping through the bog until I spotted a hole in the rocks. A cave! Perfect! Not too creepy, and no people that I had to talk to. It was just what I needed. I crawled into the hole that led to the cave, and found myself in a structure that nearly resembled a hallway. "Wicked..." I mumbled, amazed by the cave.

I walked down the tube, struggling to see anything in the darkness that had swallowed me, and was getting thicker by the minute. After walking for another minute or two, I saw the end of the cave, where a bright light shined through an opening. My casual walk turned into a sprint as I neared the light, and when I entered the light, it was like stumbling into a whole other world. (I know you enter the loop by walking in and out of the cave, but I'm too lazy to change it so get over it)

The day was sunny. Bright and perfect. Probably about mid autumn, and it was nothing like it was a few moments ago. 'Storm cleared up quick' I thought. I walked further into the warm sunlight, and saw the most marvelous thing I'd seen probably ever. It was the hill I had found the rubble on, except there wasn't any rubble. Quite frankly it was the opposite of that. Now, a tall house stood proudly on the hill, looking more than inviting. I started up the hill, realizing that I had to walk through a forest to get there. No big deal, I guess. After all I've been through to get here a forest was no huge obstacle.

Thankfully, the forest wasn't very thick, and I got through in about a minute. I emerged from the maze of trees, but dove behind a bush after I spotted two boys sitting on the grass just in front of the forest. One of them was around my age, and the other a bit younger. The oldest had slicked back brown hair, and was pretty darn tall. The other one wore a suit and a top hat, looking more like a waiter than a young boy.
"Hugh, it might've just been a dream. Can we please get home before the bird finds out we're gone?" The dapper one groaned. "Horace, you're staying here until they show up. You dreamt that a new peculiar was going to show up, so we're gonna wait till they get here." The other spat back.

On cue, I crawled out of the bushes, making both of them nearly fall off the log. "Gah!" They shouted. The youngest took one look at me before darting back toward the house shouting "Headmistress! Headmistress! There's a stranger!"

As he ran to alert who I assumed was the Ymbryne that controlled the loop, the other walked up to me and held out his hand. "Hello there! You must be the new peculiar Horace dreamt about!" He said. "Unless..." He lifted my chin so he could look me in the eyes, making my face turn a shade of pink. He looked me straight in the eye before laughing and letting go. "Yep! You've got pupils, and no contacts I hope."
