"That was the plan all along!" I yelled as the cold rain fell down on the concrete street below us. The world I've built up for years, is crumbling down right in front of me, and I can't do anything to stop it. "We get the job done, and we leave." His gray eyes sank deep into mine.
"We both know that's not what has happened." His arms reach out for mine. I step back, the least I can do is keep a sliver of my dignity.
"No, we-I..." My eyes fall to the wet ground, as I search for the right words to say. In all the books, and the stories I've read, the villain and the good guy never make it. Never. So why could we now? My green eyes met his, with a cold demeanor. "We promised, we'd get things done, and get out." Stone faced, I met his. His face was soft, as if he were about to break at a moments notice. Don't do it, don't do it. Don't take it back. Don't take it back. "In and out. No strings attached." I turn on my heel as the rain landed on my head. Don't turn back. Don't turn-.
