For this one, I wanted to rewrite a short story that I made when I was in elementary school.
I hope that you enjoy!

It was in the mid of June, and the leafs had changed their colors from lush green into more warm colors such as; red, orange, and yellow. It was a sign that the Autumn season had come. Somewhere in a residential complex, there was a house, decorated with colorful balloons, a few party streamers, and some miscellaneous decorations at the backyard of that house. A young woman, who was in her mid 30's, was walking out from the house to the backyard. A man was standing next to the young woman and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. It was like they were a married couple.
"Do you think she'll like it?" The young woman asked her beloved husband. "I'm certain that she will love it, honey." Her husband gave her a warm smile. "I'm going to call Diana while you check the pastries in the oven." She walked inside the house and grabbed the telephone to call her daughter, her adoptive one. She dialed some numbers and placed the phone near her ear.
On the road, there was a young woman, who was in her early 20's, was driving a small car that would fit four people in it. Her concentration on the road was cut off by the sound of her phone ringing. She pulled up on the side of the road since it was quiet, so there was no problem with parking the car. She picked up her phone and answered the call. "Who is it?"
"Hello, Diana. It's your mom here." Diana smiled as it was her foster mom who was on the phone. She said hello to her mother and asked for her mother's well being. "I'm doing well, dear. And how was your shift?" She gave out a sigh and leaning back on the driver's seat. "It was stressful as usual. But why are you calling me so suddenly?" At the end of the phone, her mother was giggling, quite odd for some reason. "Today it's her Birthday!" She was confused with her mother's statement. "I'm sorry, but who's birthday is today?" She scrunched up her face trying to recall someone's birthday, but she got none.
"Don't you remember that it's your sister's birthday?" Her mother asked her back in a confused tone. Diana was shocked. How could she forget about it?! She was so caught up with her college and her part-time job, that she forgot about her sister's birthday. She was speechless. "U-Um... o-of course I remembered hehe..." She tried to remain calm but her stutters didn't help at all. "Alright then. Make sure you come home before 4 PM, okay? Your sister will arrive home after her school field trip."
"Of course, mom. Love you."
"Love you too, sweety." Diana hung up her phone and thinking to herself about a gift for her sister. She looked at her watch, it was 3.15 PM, still had time to find a gift for her sister. The first thing that came in mind was going to the bookstore, and that's where she would go first. She drove to the nearest bookstore that she knew. She parked the car and checked her wallet. It wasn't much, only 60$ in it. She hadn't got her paycheck so she needed to be wary of what she would buy. She got out of the car and went inside the store. She was searching for every section of the store, but none of the books would be a good present for her sister. At least, that what she thought. Slightly disappointing, she walked out of the store and kept thinking for a perfect present for her sister.
She looked to her right and saw there was a gift shop right across the street. I don't remember there was a shop here. She thought for a moment before crossing the street to check inside. As she stepped inside, all she could see was pastel colors, lots and lots of them. Not only that but the placement of the items was organized and had a modest look in it. The decorations were some potted plants, but not that many to feel like it would be overcrowded the shop. She shuffled slowly just to admired the interior of the shop.
She had to snap herself out of her thought and focused on the task in hand. The first thing that she saw was the stuffed animals. She knew that her sister always played with her stuffed rabbit whenever she was at home.
I guess Mr. Hop-along would need a friend as well. She let out a chuckle and saw something caught her eyes. A white-furred stuffed cat with a sized almost equaled to a standard beach ball. Its irises were pitched black but had a tint of gray as the highlight. She lifted the animal and felt the fabric of its fur. She examined the animal for its price tag. when she found it, she was scanning for the price. 23$... That's not bad...
She purchased the stuffed animal and didn't bother to placed it nor wrapped it as a gift. She thought it was a waste of money and it would last for a day only. She headed to the car and sat the animal beside the driver's seat. "You're going to have so much fun once you meet my sister." It was awkward talking to a stuffed toy but she shrugged it off. She glanced over her watch to checked the time. And surprisingly, she only got 9 minutes left before it started. So she started the car engine and made her way to her house.
As soon as she arrived, there were already some people inside the house. She glanced once again towards her watch, it was 4.03 PM, which the party had already started. She picked up the toy and hid behind her back and slightly regret that she didn't buy a bag to put it in. But it was too late to go back anyway. She headed into her house and was greeted by her lovely mom. "Diana! I thought you'd never show up!" Her mother inspected her side with suspiciousness. "What's that behind you, dear?" She glanced away for a moment and leaned forward to her mother and whispered. "It's a gift." And just like that, her mother understood and simply nodded while smiling. Her mother dragged her to the backyard, where the children were celebrating.
She went outside and scanned the area for her sister. Not long after, her sister noticed her arrival. "Diana!" Her sister ran over to her and hugged her on her legs since her sister was short. She scratched her sister's head with her right hand while the other was still holding the gift. "Hey, Callie." Her sister let go of her and was leaning to the side. "What's that?" She smiled warmly towards her sister and kneeled as her sister's height. "Close your eyes first." And her sister did as she was told. Her sister's friends stared at the scene and were curious as well.
Diana finally pulled out the gift. "Okay. Now open them." Slowly her sister's eyes opened and surprisingly filled with joy as she couldn't contain her excitement. "Happy birthday, Callie." Callie, her sister, reached out her hands, eager to hold the stuffed animal into her arms. Diana noticed her sister's wanting, and gave it to her. Her sister has never been happier and hugged it firmly into her arms.
Diana watched as her sister in awe. Callie looked at her with a glim of happiness. "Thank you, sister!" She smiled warmly again. "You're welcome, sister."

Okay, so I know this was quite a boring story and it's pretty normal. And you were expecting something exciting in this story. But I had writer's block and had three stories that are still unfinished. And I wasn't happy how this story went at first, but I think it looks decent enough.
Thank you for reading!
