Hey everyone! Okay, so I want to know what everyone thinks. This is just for fun, and I know there are a lot of mistakes. It's taking some time to trust a computer with my stories. Haha, I'm so used to keeping them in secret notebooks where I know how correct everything is. Anyway, thank you for reading! Please comment! I just want to know what you think...I don't really know what voting it, but if you want to do that too, you're more than welcome!

Chapter 2

I walked into the throne room to tell my father, Lord Mildenhall, of Gavin's help. I was half-tempted to turn and walk out because of his snide remark but I knew that what he'd said was only there as a shell to project his manliness.

"Father?" He looked up and I could see the tired look in his eyes and the palid color of his face. I quickened my gait and walked to his side. "Father?! You need to lie down. Why not have me or mother take over for now?"

"Oh, Ro, I'm fine, really. Just a bit tired. Now, what is it you've come for? Your suitor? Is he to your liking?" He looked so tired I wanted to demand he rest before explaining anything.

"He's wonderful, Father, really. I'm here because when we were walking I kind of challenged him to a race and-."

"Ro!" His expression was stern, though his eyes amused hiding some of the dark circles hiding under them.

"Oh, Father, he was fine with it. He did race me, I think we shall be friends, I shall simply have to learn how to avoid his temper. Oh, I'm off topic now, where was I? Oh yes, We were racing and then I looked back and ran into a gardener and-."

My father interrupted again with another "Ro!"

"Well, he caught me before I would have splashed into the fountain. He's the new one. Gavin Starre. I thought perhaps you could give him extra payment or promote him?"

"I'm sure we could do something. But I'm not going to. You are!"

"Father, whatever do you mean?" I was stunned.

"You can do whatever it is you feel he deserves." He smiled.

"Father-." I was about to protest when he started coughing. Over and over, he doubled over gripping his stomach. I looked to the floor and saw the blood spew from his mouth as he tried to clear his throat. "Father! Father! Oh, gosh!" He fell over, passed out, or dead, I didn't know which. I ran to the hall and yelled for help. There was no one there. I ran toward the open corridor that led to the gates at the front of the palace. I ran to the opening and yelled for someone to help me. I yelled until someone came, Warner, followed by Gavin.

"Warner, Warner, please, help me. Father...throne room...coughing...blood...dead." I sputtered sobs and only squeaked out half of the message but he understood and he ran for the door to the throne room. I followed and saw Warner revive my father. In a daze I followed them as they carried my father to his room where a Medic met them. As soon as I saw my father breathing normally and sleeping peacefully, I fell asleep also. Only I was still on my feet, I didn't care when the floor came to meet me, I fell gratefully into the plush velvet knotting my fingers in its security.
