verse
rubber trees
student loans and fees
spiders choked by beetles and bees
your cigarette smoke is all an act
your life is a white lie, mine is all but that.
bridge
bare feet on soft ground
in the silence, afraid of sound
stepping into the littered road
leave your garbage here, lighten your load
chorus
rubber trees look so fake
like skinny models & 0-calorie cake
we're telling the truth,
but we're living a lie
and we're much too scared to say goodbye.
verse
i've lost the key to my heart
when i had it i'd fall apart,
now that it's gone i'm much more closed off
no one gets what they want, i'm much less soft.
bridge
bare eyes closed to the world
singing only about parties and girls
any moment could end this world, burn this sky
and we're more scared than ever to say goodbye.
chorus
rubber trees, they feel so real
maybe that's why they lose all their appeal.
your words are off
are you getting soft?
you're lying, just let me feel
all of reality loses its appeal.
this one's a very rough draft, not very good but here it iS.
