It was a bright and sunny day in June, with clear skies and a pleasantly cool breeze, Jimin and Jungkook ran around the fair that was in town with bright and excited smiles on their faces. The rides were put together in a day and looked sketchy, only being reinforced with zip ties and duct tape aside from their usual parts, but Jungkook enjoyed them so Jimin happily tagged along.
The pair spent the whole day at the fair going on rides, eating cotton candy and corndogs, and winning various prizes from different stands. By the time they did just about everything that the fair had to offer, it was sunset but the skies were still clear and beautiful.
"Jiminie, let's go on this one! It's the only ride we haven't been on yet!" Jungkook chirped excitedly as he pointed to the last ride at the fair. The Tagada.
"I-I don't know Jungkook.. it looks.. really dangerous.." Jimin mumbled, his tone was panicked and Jungkook instantly picked up on it.
"You can sit this one out then, don't even worry about it. I know you don't like these kinds of rides as much as I do." Jungkook said with a bunny smile, a smile that Jimin couldn't help but smile back at.
"Thank you so much Kookie! You're a lifesaver!" Jimin chirped, laughing afterwards and Jungkook laughed with him. They hugged for a moment before Jungkook gave Jimin his phone and ran off to ride the Tagada, leaving Jimin by himself to admire the scenery, enjoy the sunset, and look over the pictures that he and Jungkook had taken together. He had a soft smile on his face as he relaxed, although eventually his smile dropped when he heard more screaming than usual and the sound of an ambulance siren. After looking around to see what was going on, he saw a crowd gathering up at the Tagada and immediately started to panic.
"Jungkook.." Jimin breathed out, shaking his head. His body reacted first and the next thing he knew, he was running in the the direction of the ride. "Jungkook!" he called out, frantically looking through the crowd for the older. "Kookie! Jungkookie, where are you!?"
"Everyone get back! Clear the area!" One of the paramedics yelled out as others rushed to the scene with a couple stretchers.
Jimin was pushed around by the crowd until he was out of it completely. He couldn't help is as his eyes watered from fear and frustration, more than worried about Jungkook since he couldn't find the older and he didn't know what was going on. He could only pray that the older was alright, but of course because nothing ever goes his way, he could only watch as Jungkook was rolled away on one of the stretchers.
The older was unconscious and his temple was bleeding, his arm looked broken and that is when tears finally spilled over his eyes. His vision was blurry for a moment before he passed out and everything went dark.
~A WEEK LATER~
There Jimin sat, in the front row of a church bawling. His best-friend was gone and it was all his fault, he should have never let Jungkook go on that ride, he knew it was dangerous.
It was an open casket funeral, meaning the casket would be open and everyone would get to see Jungkook one last time. As soon as the casket was opened, Jimin ran over to it and hugged Jungkook tightly. "Jungkook.. please.. Kookie this isn't funny anymore! Stop messing with me! Get up.. please.. I'm so sorry.." he sobbed out, weakly hitting Jungkook's chest with his fists.
A lot of people in the church cried as well, some crying for the death of Jungkook and others crying for Jimin, feeling sympathetic, even empathetic for the kid. Eventually, they had to close the casket. It took a couple of people to pull the screaming and crying Jimin away from it, but once Jimin was moved and the casket was closed, they got things ready to transport it.
~AFTER THE FUNERAL~
Jimin was back at his apartment feeling cold and alone. He cried himself to sleep in the bed that he used to share with Jungkook ever since they started living together. His life and world felt so dull now, he hated it. He spent the rest of the summer in the apartment lying around doing nothing. He felt too unmotivated to do anything.
Once every other week he would go out and buy just enough food and water to get him through two weeks of locking himself away. He couldn't stand being outside anymore, he couldn't stand people and feelings anymore. He preferred to be alone and that's how things stayed for two years, even though he was going to school again, he didn't talk to anyone.. but that eventually changed.
