Nixus and Nava were shoved into their room, falling on to the purple and blue stripped carpet, the door slamming behind them, a quiet noise of the door being locked could be heard.
"Girls, I'm sorry. But I'm doing this to protect you! The windo-" They could hear their father yell from outside the door, his sentence was cut off by a new sound, a loud SMASH from down stairs.
Tears flooded their eyes as they led on the floor, still in shock from everything that is happening. After a few minutes Nixus stood up, still shaking with fear and had tear stained cheeks, her sister soon followed her movements, clutching onto her hand as if it was to save her life.
"No matter what happens now, know that daddy loves you two..." a gun shot was heard after their father said his final words. A silence fell in the house, time had seemed to stop at that second, dispite Nixus being 9 and Nava being 14. They knew... they knew exactly what had happened, and that their that worlds will never be the same
The girls faintly heard steps slowly walked up the stairs who ever it was, wasn't in a rush. The juxtapose of Nava and Nixus... Nava had snapped back to reality and started tugging Nixus to the window by the sleeve of her red jumper.
Nixuses mind was still blank, nothing processed, not even the cries from her older sister, begging her to listen and help her. After what felt like forever, Nixus finally came to her senses, her breathing was quick and sharp as she started to trip over her own two feet but managed to save herself from falling.
She realised what her older sister was planning quickly, Nixus helped tried to help open the window. However, it wouldn't budge, not even a little bit. Nava went to drastic measures as she heard someone try and open the door, fortunately the door was locked. But it seemed to only frustrate the intruder more, as they kept trying over, and over again.
Scanning the room, Nava saw there small animal statues that they hand painted, there were foxes, rabbits, elephants and more rainbow coloured animals.
"Throw them at the window as hard as you can" she whispered to Nixus, pointing at the small statues, the girl's little sister nodded and went to get one of them.
The older sibling threw the first statue, hitting the window almost exactly in the centre the force leaving the bird statue shattered on the floor and a large crack in the window.
Nixus threw the second one, hitting the corner of the window. Leaving a smaller crack in the window and the rabbit statue mostly intact.
The last statue was thrown by Nixus again, this time hitting the window exactly in the centre, glass and dry painted clay fell to the floor in small pieces, making the ground shimmer.
The sisters were carefull as they walked around the glass, and through the window. However they still managed to get small pieces stuck in their hands and knees as they crawled out the window.
There was one problem with this plan, they didnt prepare anything once they got out the window, nothing to protect them from falling and breaking there bones. However it was to late, Nava had slipped off the window seal and an attempt to stop nava had failed, causing Nixus to fall right after her. The fall was short, probably the shortest thing to have happened today. Nava was out cold while Nixus led onto of her luckily she had someone to break her fall.
Almost 20 minutes had pasted before Nixus got up. Looking at her sister, her raspberry eyes filled with tears "please, please dont die too" the little girl whispered.
She knelt down, putting her hands on the soft grass but quickly pulling them back up as the glass in her hands brought her too much pain. Nixus put head on Navas chest in hope that she could hear her heart beat. The girl was in luck, her sisters heart beat loudly in her chest and she could feel her sisters warm breath on her face. She took this moment to relax a little bit and collapsed next to her sister, she struggled to stay awake, Nixus wanted to watch over her sister and try to make sure no harm would come to her the lid of her eyes seemed so heavy now and now. And soon, they shut leaving Nixus in a deep sleep.
Time skip
Nava was the first one awake, her head throbbing in pain. She looked around a bit, it was no longer a sunny day and now a cloudy night, so much calmer now. Navas relaxed state didnt last long until she remembered something, very, important.
"We need to get out of the open" she sat up, gently pushing her younger sister off if her and standing up. She picked Nixus up, trying not to wake her up as she needed the rest and started walking over to the woods across the street from them at a slightly fast pace. She went deeper and deeper, the woods getting more and more dense as they went.
Nava started to slow down, feeling tired and her legs growing weaker. Scanning for a safe area to rest again, she saw a small cave. Walking into it, it too deep and was big enough to protect them if it rained. She set her sister down on the cold floor and sat down close to the entrance, waiting for Nixus to wake up
"I'm sorry, sister"
