Serenity: Background

Characters: NOT OCs

Mal: Captain of the ship Serenity. Also known as captain tightpants. Fought for Independence before the Alliance took over.

Zoe: Mal's second-in-command and war buddy. Married to Wash. Often goes on the jobs with Mal and Jayne.

Wash: Pilot of Serenity. Married to Zoe, and ALWAYS stays with the ship, even during jobs. Tortured the one time he left the ship. The only person besides Kaylee who knows all the wiring and knobs on the ship.

Jayne: Trigger happy client-relations guy. He goes on the jobs and only works for Mal because the money was good. Sleeps with 12 loaded guns. His favorite is a rifle known as Vera.

Kaylee: Mechanic of Serenity. Knows more about mechanics than literally anyone. She sleeps in the engine room and never tries to fight. She and Simon are kinda-sorta dating.

Shepard Book: The preacher of Serenity. Mal does not approve of him. Against killing because of his religion, but he is fine shooting your kneecaps. Wears his hair in a bun, and if it comes loose it is enough to give everyone a mental breakdown. Looks like Einstein without his bun.

Inara: The companion (you'll see) of the ship. She has her own decked-out shuttle.

Simon: The doctor, River's older sister, and Kaylee's (sort of) boyfriend. He can treat any wound, but he is very polite and sometimes stiff due to his rich upbringing.

River: An EXTREMELY gifted girl who was experimented in by the Alliance. She can activate her ninja-assassin self by speaking a word and only Simon can stop her. She is mentally unstable, and will not normally hold an intelligent conversation.

Places and things:

Serenity: A firefly-class shuttle, home to a small gang of smugglers/job-doers.

Firefly: A kind of ship, it is obsolete and known for its firefly shape and glowing engine.

Alliance: Feds who have taken over the universe and promote law and order. They are harsh and unforgiving, but are trying to do the right thing.

Reavers: People who were gassed by a calming gas but had a bad reaction. They will rape you to death, eat you, and wear your skin as clothing, and if you are lucky they will do it in that order.

Badger: Owner of a company that gives out jobs to bandits and smugglers.

Whitefall, Persephone, Paradiso: Desert planets; Persephone is very inhabited, Paradiso is partially inhabitat, and Whitefall is barely inhabited.

Miranda: The planet where everyone was gassed, killing almost everyone and turning the survivors into Reavers.
