Someone's foot trips me from behind. My face hits the hard pavement and I start to taste blood. I look up to see who it is. Marylyn Bentley is standing there with her arms crossed and wicked smile. I feel my lips start to tremble. I can't cry, not now. "Nice nose. How's that pavement taste?" She asks and her and her friends start laughing. I bring my hand up to my nose. When I put it into my eyes view, I see red sticky blood. I pry my self from the ground and start running. I wasn't sure where I was going but I just kept running. Tears start to roll down my face and a small sob escapes my mouth. My nose was throbbing and I could hear Marylyn and her friends running after me. High school was like a marathon. It's hard, exhausting, and never ending. I just want to reach the finish line.
My stomach couldn't take it any more. I had to stop. I see a huge oak tree up ahead an dash behind it. I sink to my knees and sob into my hands. The girls were approaching me and I had no where to go. Suddenly, I hear the door open to the house's lawn I was on. Oh know, I was going to get yelled at! This was Mr. Cox's lawn. He's been known to harm people who set foot on his nicely trimmed lawn. But I'm surprised to see a young boy, about my age, look out. He motions for me to come inside. "Oh Brandi I know your there" Marylyn taunted. "Quickly!" The boy says with his lips and no sound. I make a mad dash for his door. I hadn't really thought about the fact that this could be a trap. But I didn't care. It's better than getting killed by Marylyn. I run inside the house and look at the nice fancy things there are. I turn to face the boy. He shuts the door quickly and locks it. "Thank you. So much" I say with gratitude. He turns and I truly see what he looks like. He has dark brown hair, light green eyes, and seem very agile. He was Amazing. "Oh don't thank me. I should have saved you from those girls before" He pulls out a chair and motions for me to sit. I resist at first, but take it. He takes a seat next to me. "Wait what do you mean, 'i should have saved you before'?" I ask. He sighs. "I've been watching you. People are always mean to you on purpose. I've just been a bystander." He extends his hand. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Miles".
