Mj sat on her bed, working on her homework. It was the beginning of junior year, and work was already piling up. She sighed to herself, not sure how even peter got this done since he had to be Spider-Man and work with the avengers half the time, and then a high school student.
Everyone said junior year would be the hardest, and they were right.
The sun was setting in Queens, the air was still warm despite the breeze since it was late September. Peter swung through the sky, building to building. He was filled with innocent glee, and couldn't wait to tell his girlfriend the news.
Peter landed on her fire escape with a thud, making her look up distracted. She took her laptop off her lap, unlocking the window for him.
Peter stumbled in, tripping onto the carpet as usual.
He had a grin on his face, slapping the emblem on his chest, the suit falling off his body.
Peter was still dressed, the usual geeky t shirt and jeans, they were just wrinkled.
Peter leapt onto the bed next to Mj.
"Whatcha doin?" He asked, glee in his voice
"Homework. God junior year will be the death of me. But I have good news" Michelle replied
"Awesome- anyway I have good news too, can I share mine first?" Peter asked excitedly. He wasn't selfish, but he really couldn't hold it in.
"Sure." Michelle shrugged
"We're going to Europe! The avengers have a project there" Peter said and Michelle raised her eyebrow confused
"What do you mean?" MJ asked
"For a year and a half. We're gonna be back by May during senior year. Before prom" He said grinning
"W-What?" She said not understanding
"Michelle you're gonna love it there! I've been to Germany years ago with Mr stark and it was awesome-" Peter kept going before Michelle interrupted
"Peter!" She said raising her voice, he finally stopped, mid sentence. His face fell, he was sensitive.
I don't know where I'm gonna go, will you go too?
"I'm a human too! You can't just barge in here declaring I'm coming with you to Europe.
I'm a person, I'm not just 'peter Parker's girlfriend."
Michelle started
"I know you're not but-"
She interrupted him again
"A year and a half! It's junior year! I can't just show up at the end of senior year. I have school work! I have things to experience, I'm not just some pet you can drag around. MIT will take back my acceptance if I'm off the surface of the earth for two years!" She said
Peter started again
"I know you're not an object I can drag around but-
There's homeschooling. That's what the plan was, you wouldn't be missing anything-" Peter explained, but it wouldn't be on the school record
"Wait wait- MIT?" Peter stopped, and looked up at her.
At this point she was standing up, not on the bed next to him
"Yeah! If you had stopped to listen! That's my good news. I got into MIT"
MJ yelled
"Babe that's amazing-" He said standing up to hug her but she pushed him away, crossing her arms turning away
"It's Europe. I can't follow you there, and I have schooling and friends. I can't just follow my boyfriend around for a year and a half. Just because you say 'jump' doesn't mean I'll ask 'how high?' Peter!" She said, her temper rising.
