Chapter 2

Jeffery tapped my shoulder.

"I'll head to my teammates dudes. We have a meeting for our next game."

Jeffery left.

DON'T LEAVE ME HERE!

There was a long pause between Kimi and I.

I also realized we were just standing in the middle of the hallway, just waiting for the other to say something.

"I'll still study. Being in the high ranks matter to me a lot."

I know and I shouldn't have said that.

It was an awkward walk to the canteen.

As I was about to sit down, I heard a man call out me name.

"Mr. Cruz, I'd like your help in fixing the stockroom for the class later." Sir Satello, our homeroom teacher, called out.

WHY NOW?!

I looked over at Kimi, and I see her looking at me back with a blank face.

I can't leave her now.

But I have no choice.

"It's fine, go."

BUT I CAN'T!

I sighed.

"Alright. Call or message me if you need anything."

No response.

I left with Sir Satello. Why call me of all people?!

"I didn't see any student that I could trust in the classroom so, I looked for you. I could trust you more than the others."

Ah, there we go.

Heh, "trust" just because I'm an honor student. I disagree with that thinking.

I placed my phone on a nearby table since it gets uncomfortable.

I did what was asked, and cleaned and fixed the stockroom.

"Thank you very much, Mr. Cruz. I'll see to it that you'll get plus points for that."

That's.. Unfair.

But I can't do anything about it.

I thanked Sir, and left the room.

I checked my phone. There's 3 messages!

"Dude! Ma'am announced that there will be  a test after lunch! Where are you?"

They're all from Jeffery.

"Can't see you anywhere but I found Kimi. I haven't studied yet so I'll study with her."

"Dude it's been 10 minutes, where are you? I'm still studying with Kimi at the canteen."

I sighed. I guess she did study.

I took a single step.

Wait.

Oh no.

Jeffery hasn't been alone with a girl in public!

And he's at school.

Oh no.

I walked fast towards the canteen.

As I was walking, I overheard a converstation between girls walking near me.

"Have you heard? Jeffery Santos is with a new girl as we speak!" (Girl 1)

"Really?! Who is it?" (Girl 2)

"I heard she's one of the highest honor students!" (Girl 3)

"Oh no! We won't stand a chance against her then! There's no doubt Jeffery would like a smart girl." (Girl 2)
