i felt the breath leave my empty shell
and my feet lift off the ground.
i heard the white noise fill my head
and the jaws of death come crashing down.

what i saw so vividly,
as though right in front of me,
were your outstretched arms
and your eyes like constellations
and suddenly your pale bloodless face,
staring without seeing...

on our battlefield.

i tried to stop the war,
i tried to hold back those gleaming teeth,
i tried to stem the gushing red waterfalls and how i wanted to smash the screen.

we both die at the end.
will you watch that movie again?
