High School. A nightmare I've been awaiting since...well since as far as I can think really. Middle School was bad enough, people judging your every move and teachers doing everything in their power to give you an anxiety attack. But this year is gonna be different. That's because I'm gonna be keeping a list of all the things that I learned throughout the school year, that way come Sophomore season, I'll have all the information I need. It's so full-proof!
By the way, my name's Alejandro. Classic Latino boy name, I know. Alejandro Garcia. Even more stereotypical. And pretty much my whole life I've worried about two things, school and girls. The things I worry about are weirdly enough the two things I give a damn about anymore. Lately I've been so done with family matters because all they try to do is tell me I'm something I'm not. But that's besides that's point. As I now pack up my materials for my first day, I pick out each one carefully so that way I don't accidentally pack goddamn crayons. And just like that, I begin my short walk to school.
"Allie! Wait up!" A distant voice I recognize immediately starts to catch up to me.
"Yo dude! You ready for the first day!?" he said. This idiot right here is my best friend, Duncan. "No, not really." I reply. "Things are not exactly booming at my household currently and already my anxiety senses are tingling." Duncan looks worry some.
"Well dude, as long as you have me, I know you'll be A-OK!" He exclaims. Sigh. I'm already doubting his claim and it's only been .01 seconds. Suddenly another bright look rushed across his face. "What about Blair?"
I felt my face getting hot, but continued to keep my composure. "W-What about her?" A toothy smile appeared across Duncan's face. "You know what I'm talking about. As as you see her you're gonna be like 'omg Blair I love you so much eeeek' and then you're gonna be struggling not to get-"
"Okay, I get it! I get it! I get it!" I shout. Unfortunately, Duncan at times is always like this. Sometimes I can only hope he gets tired of it and moves on. Until then I just have to deal with it.
Me and him finally make it to school. I don't spend too much time talking to friends because I wanna make sure I'm prepared just as soon as I make way into the first period. As I study I feel as if someone is looking at me. I turn to my side to see Blair. Immediately I jump.
"You good?" She asks. "I-uh..." Come on Allie say something. "Uh...I am now." She blushes and smiles. Bad move Allie. Why do you have to be see such a weirdo ugh. "Well I'll see you around Alejandro." She gets up from the bench still smiling and walks off. Great job man. You freaked her right away from you. I'm surprised she managed to keep such a convincing smile throughout that segment.
Whatever. You'll get over it. As I walk into class I start to think that things can't get any worse. But it's hard to keep thinking that when you reach into your backpack and remember you didn't pack your pencils...
