Tonight is family game night and I'm super stoked. Last time, my family beat our neighbors, the Taylor's and we plan to do so again. My dad's on his way back from picking my brother up from the airport and as I haven't seen him in some time, I'm dey excited.
I'm setting out the scoreboards when the front door is opened. Immediately my six-foot tall goon of a best friend runs over and tackles me to the floor.
"Get off me dumbass!", I squeal between laughs.
Colin Taylor springs up and pulls me with him. There's a huge dumb grin playing on his lips and his green eyes sparkle with childish glee. Looking at him I can't help but think:
Man, I love this boy.
Colin and I have been best friends since we were foetuses because our momma's were best friends as well. I always thought Colin was a really cool guy but my romantic feelings were ultimately realised when we became teenagers. And yeah, I know it's so cliché for me to fall for my best friend, but it happened.
"Yo, AJ!", Rusty, Colin's brother greets giving me a bro hug.
"Hey Russ, hi Ruby", I return. Ruby gives me a hug and then I proceed to greet their momma Alice.
"Hi Auntie Alice", I say, being pulled into a tight squeeze and a cheek peck.
"How are you doing honey?", Auntie A questions.
"I'm hyped cause Andre's gonna be here for a few days, and also, we gon whoop y'all tonight!", I smirk.
"Oh please. In your dreams!", Colin and Rusty comment.
"Hey y'all!", My momma says to us, walking into the den where we're congregated.
She greets the Taylor's then she and Auntie A go to the kitchen to finish dinner.
Colin, Ruby, Rusty and I separate into pairs and have a multiplayer game of Mario kart.
We're on our third round with Ruby and me in the lead, when a pair of large hands cover my eyes. I'm dey confused as the hands are too large to be Colin's or Rusty's, but just right to be-
"Andre!", I exclaim springing off the sofa.
I run around to my older brother and we execute our sibling handshake.
"Small Fry, ain't seen you in a minute", he comments giving me a noogie.
He catches up with us before heading off to find momma and Auntie A.
A few minutes later, Dad walks in hauling what resembles more than a few days luggage.
Behind him, a girl with long chestnut brown hair and shades saunters in. She removes the shades and reveals the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen. Damn, I wouldn't be surprised if she was a model for Vogue or something.
Dad plants a kiss to my forehead then hails up Colin n' the rest. He then turns to Miss Shades.
"This is Chrystal Harris, she'll be staying here for a bit", Dad explains.
Chrystal walks over to me and cuts a smile so bright, I swear I gon blind.
"Oh you must be Alexis! Andre's told me so much about you", she gushes in that voice you speak to babies. I half expect her to reach out and pinch my cheeks. I really hope to GOD it ain't her real voice.
"He has?", I question, creasing my eyebrows.
"Totes,he wanted his fiancée to know all about his amazing sister", she sweetly beams.
Hwyshsn. Woahwoahwoah. Hold the phone. Rewind. Take it down a notch.
Fiancée? Girlfriend maybe, yeah, but fiancée?
Shiiiiiit. I was not expecting that.

So, the whole 'my brother's engaged thing' shocked me at first, but Chrys is actually a really nice girl. She's great at Game of Life and Twister and she's also such a sweet person. We actually have quite a lot in common: we both love computer coding, we both love my brother, we...
We'll, that's basically what we've found so far but that doesn't change the fact that she's dey cool. She's a hairstylist and insisted that both momma and me be her hairstyle Guinea pigs as she's never styled kinky hair. In the end though, it didn't go as well as Chrys planned, but it was really nice to spend time with her and momma.
Overall, game night was dey touch and it made me understand how nice Andre and Chrys are as a couple, and as long as my bro's cool, I am too.
