'More time,' he thought miserably.

What he needs is more time.

Harry James Potter, known as The-Boy-Who-Lived, The-Boy-Who-Would-Not-Die, Hogwarts' Golden Boy and many other variances for boy has finally admitted to himself that they lost.

He was in a tent with his best friend, in the middle of nowhere, in winter. How bad could it get? Well, according to Potterwatch, so much worse.

The muggleborns are rounded up for registration or risk being stripped off of their magic.

There are people, who, while not death eaters, were catching those who defies Voldemort and delivers them to the Death Eaters for a price.

Goblins, Werewolves, Veelas and other magical creatures are being killed on sight for mere existing.

He's undesirable Number One.

He's living with Undesirable Number Two.

And to cap it off, his and Hermione's bestest friend, left them, right when they needed him.

"It's been a month now," he heard her tell him as soon as she entered the tent.

He didn't turn towards her but he felt the mattress he's sitting at dip lightly beside him and felt his best friend's head lay comfortably on his shoulder.

'I've doomed her,' he thought as he tried to calm his breath.

"I'm sorry, Hermione," he whispered as he placed an arm around her lithe form.

When he felt her stiffen, he tried to retract his arms but then she turned her body towards his and watched mesmerized as his usually honey-colored eyes turned into the color of whiskey and fire.

"Don't you dare, Harry James Potter!" he heard her yell as he felt her hands gripping the front of his shirt as she shook slightly.

"I came all this way for you," she heard her tell him, "I came all this way for you because I believe you."

"But Hermione, we're losing," he tried to tell her.

"I'm losing." he tried again.

He saw her head drop at those last words.

He wanted so badly to comfort her, she was his best friend and closest to family he's got left now, but then those were the exact reasons why he couldn't lie to her.

She's family.

His only remaining family.

"I've failed you, Harry"

The words were spoken so softly he almost missed it and made him do a double take.

"What?" he asked dumbstrucked, because surely she didn't mean -

"I'm supposed to be this Brightest Witch of our Age or the Brains of the Golden Trio or some such rot, but when you need me the most, I just couldn't help you!" he heard her tell him miserably as his face turned ashen.

"Hermione," he started, "Hermione, it wasn't your fault."

"This task," he said, spitting the last word in disgust, "was given to us too late, we just don't have enough time!" he continued heatedly, "Everyone is either dying or has died, I don't even know if there's anyone we're saving this goddamned world for."

"Remus is dead," he heard her whisper and this time, he closed his eyes.

The last marauder.

The last remaining link to his parents was reportedly dead two days ago when a wolf pack was reported found near their last hideout.

Giving him time to listen and run with Hermione, as far away as possible.

His father died when he was one, defending him.

Giving him more time to run away with his mother.

His godfather, Sirius, died figthing alongside him.

Giving him more time until the other members of the Order arrive.

Even Peter Pettigrew, when he drew his last breath, died to give him time to run away from the Snatchers.

More time.

They kept giving him time.

Time to run.

But he can't run now.

He wouldn't.

The idea, however, came to Hermione faster than it did to him, which shouldn't surprise him at all, to be honest. His smile grew the more he listened to her plan.

They'll make it.

Hermione makes everything possible and his sheer dumb luck would not hurt either.

They will have time.
