I stare longingly at my novel. Thinking about how I'll never be a normal 17-year-old girl. Thinking of how I could rain terror on Earth. Thinking abo-
"Dinner's ready!" My amazing mother yells. Normal people would run away or hate me for my differences, but not her. She's really the one of the only things that I care about and I love. My other escape from this world books. Especially, horror and thrillers. Sometimes romance intrigues me, although it's not my go to.
I teleport downstairs and see my blonde haired mother. Wrinkles covering most of her face, and her petite stature.
"How was school?"
"Boring as always, how was work?"
"I gave leg surgery to someone, bullet wound" She casually announced as if saving someone's life isn't amazing.
My mother, Sarah is a surgeon. She's been working in that job for years. They lowkey treat her like trash, she hasn't got a raise in 10 years. I think she should quit, but she probably wouldn't anyway.
Also, I could care less about school. It's not like the kids don't like me, or they bully me. I just don't like socializing, since I have telekinesis, teleportation and the power to be invisible. My powers would sometimes work on their own. Like a little kid wetting the bed, but more catastrophically. I would accidentally get angry and things would fly in the air, almost injuring people. That fateful day in second grade, when I was playing with other kids, I got angry, because a little kid was being incredibly, sexist stealing my soccer team, saying that girls can't play sports. Then, all went black. When I awoke, the kid was on the ground crying, with millions of scratches. My mother was very understanding, she knew that it wasn't truly my fault. The one thing I remember her saying is"Don't let the anger welling up inside you, control you. Find alternatives, like teleporting to a remote location, and throw rocks at a mountain, or something like that."
We moved, and I realized that it would be better to just not have friends, and stay away from people unless they have the same abilities as me. I don't wish this upon anyone. It's pure torture. I can't be normal, I can't get too angry. I just wish I wasn't born anymore to be very honest. I almost committed suicide once, then I realized what I'd be doing to my mother. Then, I couldn't protect her anymore. If she wasn't here, I would've died a very long time ago.
After dinner, I telepathically washed the dishes, did the laundry, things like that. While cleaning my room I sensed someone coming, it was a black car, and it was pulling up at our door. Then, silence consumes the air.
BANG BANG. I hear coming from downstairs. I teleport swiftly to check out the scene, but no one was there. I look downwards and there is my mother, lying on the ground. Blood covering up her scrubs.
"MOM?!" I scream. I pick her up, then teleport to the hospital, not caring who sees.
When I arrive I yell"My Mother! She's been shot!!"
Doctors come flooding into the lobby, yelling"CODE RED! CODE RED! I REPEAT THIS IS NOT A DRILL!"
They take my mother away not even talking to me, not telling me where to go or what to do. Then, a nurse comes in and guides me to get some water and food.
"How did you get here so fast? if you were here even minutes later, she'd be dead." The nurse asks while I'm sipping water with shaky fingers.
"I honestly don't know" I lie quickly, pausing to think up more, "I kind of panicked and things went black."
"Okay, do you mind talking to the police?" The nurse shoots.
"Sure, but I didn't get to see the shooter, they ran off too quickly for me to see them" I shuddered at the thought of her. When I close my eyes all I can see, is her laying on the ground dying. I couldn't help her. It's all my fault, if I were to stay up there with her, maybe this could all have been avoided.
I realize that I'm mumbling, and I must look like an insane person to the nurse.
"Sweetie, you couldn't have done anything, except gotten yourself shot."
Only, she isn't aware of my powers, because I really could've saved her.
After the police thoroughly question me, I head back to my house to get a backpack that I keep filled with my stuff, which includes $2000 that I've made at my job. I then, teleport to the hospital, give the front desk my number to update me on anything and everything that happens. When I get outside, I go to the cheapest motel I know of, and settle in for the night.
Even though I've been up since 5 am this morning, I can't sleep. I keep my phone ringer at 100 percent, just in case I doze off. After about 3 hours, I remember dozing off at some point. Then, at god knows what time it is o'clock, my phone goes off. It's the hospital. Putting on my "I've been awake for hours voice I simply mutter" "Hello?"
"Is this Spencer Taylings?"
"Yes"
"This is the hospital, and we couldn't save her. I'm so sor-"
As soon as she gets those words out of her mouth I start to break down crying. Then, everything, all at once around me, everything around me was consumed by inky blackness. It seemed as though someone went into the coding of the Earth, and deleted every last part.
When I came to, I was in an alleyway. The one sense my body allowed me to use was smell. It wasn't just smelly, it reeked of garbage.
The one thought that came to my mind was, WHERE AM I??
