LOS ANGELES, CA.

"GET OUT OF MY HOUSE, YOU DRUNKEN IDIOT!" Kaito Osina screamed at his wife. He was the father of 13-year-old Averie, 10-year-old Raine, and 17-year-old Ren. "FINE YOU UNEMPLOYED @!#?)!" Rina Osina cried out. The three Osina children were eavesdropping on their parent's fight - like they always would.

Ren wrote down everything they would say, and Averie and Raine would just sit there, and wait if their brother needed their help. They had waited, and waited, and waited. Finally, they stopped arguing.

"Ren, is there any difference between this argument and the others?" Avie asked. "She's right. It seemed that it was different." The bright little Raine said. Ren flips through the notebook they used. He nodded at them and looked at the notebook. Ren replied to Avie's question. "Yes. And I-" he said, before being interrupted by a slam from the door. Avie rushed down the stairs to see her mother outside. She tried opening the door. Locked. The girl told herself.

She went up the stairs and went to the nearest window she could find next to the trampoline. The cunning and talented girl jumps down from the windowsill, onto the trampoline, before landing safely on the grass. She swiftly hides behind a tree to prevent anyone from seeing her. Rina kicks her husband as he storms out of the house. As she walks back inside, she catches a glimpse of Avie. "Sh*t." She mouthed to herself.

She waits for her mom to go inside the house before climbing up the wall to get to the second floor. As soon as she gets in, her mother starts up the stairs, each step up making a loud THUD. Ren stands in the middle of the room, to inspect his notes. Rina walks by him, and "accidentally" pushes him. He falls hard to the floor but gets back up again. Raine sprints over to her wounded brother, who seemed to have sprained his arm. "Are you okay?" She [Raine] questions with a look of care in her expression. "I-I'm fine sis. You don't need to w-worry about me.." He says. "Guys. Mom is packing up her stuff." The observant girls say in unison. After a while, Rina comes out and exits the house. She gets into the car and drives off.

3 MONTHS LATER

"YOU MISTAKES! YOU MADE YOUR MOTHER LEAVE US!" Kaito screamed at the two girls. They were used to this treatment already. So was their brother.

Their father kicked them, punched them, and -just- abused them. It was harsh, yes, but to them? They were immune to this. They were fine.

Hours of this go by, and their father finally leaves them alone. Ren - being the strategist of the siblings - devised a plan.

"Pack up. We're running away." He tells them in a serious tone. "What- No! We can't do that!" The almost 11-year-old Raine cries out to her brother. "We have to, Raine. If we don't, we'll continue being tortured." Averie says in a concerned yet serious tone. After a while, the silence was broken by Raine. "Actually... Now that I think about it... It makes sense." She finally agrees to them.

They secretly pack their bags and take all the money they saved up for them. Before leaving, they eat the last of the garbage their father makes and stay in Ren's room.
"So we wait until dad is asleep, then we leave," Avie says. "Where would we go when we leave?" Asks the curious Raine. "Good question Lil' sis. Maybe we could go to McDonald's first." Ren replies. "But what if they don't let us there?" Next questions Averie. "Well, uh... Let's just talk about this while waiting."

Hours go by. It feels like days. But at around 11:30 p.m, they leave the house. Their choice of escape? Trampoline. They would jump out of the window, jump onto the trampoline, and land on the grass like what Avie did. "I'm scared!" The little girl tells Ren. "It's okay sis, just hold onto me and close your eyes. We'll do it together." Avie assures Raine. They jump out the window, onto the trampoline and land on the soft grass.

"You did it, sis!" Avie whispers to her very scared sister. "W-We did?" Raine mumbles. "You sure did." Emerged the voice of Ren. "Now let's run!" Added Ren.
They run faster than they ever had, stopping near a McDonald's. Since Ren was turning 18 in a few days time, he'll be able to try and work there.

The children came prepared. They brought blankets, pillows, shirts - just essentials in short. They opened up the tent they found in a narrow alley beside the McDonald's, laying down the pillows in the space they have. It wasn't the biggest, but big enough to fit 4 people inside it. They brought their gadgets and chargers - and seeing an outlet nearby, they think to charge there.
