My life shouldn't be of any importance to any of you reading right now, but that's the reason I'm telling it. It doesn't matter anymore, it's over. I'm dead and there's nothing for me to hide now.So here's the beginning to a quickly ended life.
The day I saw her was a great one. I had just finished marching with my band and as I was struggling up the bleachers with my sousaphone upon my shoulders, I heard her voice.
-"Hey... Great job out there, you guys were incredible!"
"Heh. Thanks" I continued up the bleachers,
-" Wait! What's your name again? I think I know you but I don't know your name." She said as she put her head in her hands and rested her elbow on her legs.
"It's chris."
And without continuing a single conversation I headed up the bleachers to meet with my section. I had spent the rest of that night thinking of that girl, I was about to turn to my friend to tell her that I thought that girl was cute. Lucky for me I kept my mouth shut, and played my pep tunes queued by the drum major. After the night was over, I forgot about her.
Maybe a week has gone by and I'm preparing to preform my audition music to try out for wind ensemble in the band, I'm slightly nervous but I keep my calm like I usually do. I pulled up a chair and a stand to practice before my audition in the busy practice room, when I see her out of the corner of my eye. She had come in through the door carrying a tuba and immediately headed in my direction. Of course I had put down my equipment to speak to her because after all, she was someone I'd never seen before but was in band. She was never marching along with us, never at any of the games besides the last. She was a mystery to me, but to everyone else she had been there the whole time. I set down my tuba and I stood up and waited for her to come a bit closer. She walked over and smiled, oh what a beautiful smile she had. Her looks made me head over heals.
-"Hey, It's you again, I'm J by the way." She said as she shifted her weight on her hip and held out her hand, " I thought I would introduce myself to the freshman and newbies in the section."
"Oh hi I'm Chris" I replied as I let out a little grin.
-" I already know that silly, we met at the football game last Friday."
"Oh right, of course. I had completely forgotten, sorry about that." I replied and put my hands in my pockets.
-" Well anyways, chris, here's my number if you need anything or have any questions. I'll always be able to reply, I do practically nothing all day." She says while handing out a thin sheet of paper towards me.
I thanked her and took the sheet, then she left for her audition. I looked at the paper and noticed a heart right after the last number. I smiled and continued to practice until my audition started. I had done a little bad during the audition but I did better than some of the others in my section. I ended up getting the results later that night, I got first chair.
The next day I went to school, it was the start to a normal day. I wasn't particularly excited about that day because there was a pep rally happening later on. My class was the first to head out to the gymnasium. It was a fine gym, there wasn't any scuffed floor or anything. It looked like a new school gym. I was the at the head of my class and entered first and started up the plastic blue bleachers. I sat and watched the rally for a while before I grew bored of it all. I pulled out my phone and decided to give J a text. It was a normal conversation, I had explained how bored I was and how stupid it is to be forced to these rally's. We continued talking all about what we wanted to do in our future careers and some things about band. After 30 minutes of texting the rally was over and the conversation had to end for the time being. I went through the rest of the day thinking about her and our conversation. Once I had gotten home I immediately texted her, she hadn't replied for maybe an hour. But the reply was quite strange.
-" I think I'm about to go drive off to some town..." she texted
"Lol how come? Are you alright?"
-" yeah, I'm fine. I just feel the need to go on a long drive."
"Oh.. in that case, just take me with you." I replied in hopes to hang out.
-" wait, are you serious?"
"Yeah, why not. I'll send you my address"
And just like that she was on her way to come get me.
