"One day more..." Deirdre whispered solemnly, the wisps of her hair covering the fair skin upon her face. The squeak of the door gave her a sudden warning, and she brought her wheelchair towards a window, sighing as a frown placed itself on her lips. A young man with jet black hair slid into the room, body twitching occasionally, and dark circles under his eyes. He held a nice prepared breakfast, but Deirdre seemed unfazed by him, only giving a blank stare towards the world on the other side of her clear border "Come on, Deir, you should be happy to see me.." She glanced at him, eyes brimming with tears already. Becoming impatient, he slammed his hands on the wall, dropping the food and making the small girl jump "Do you want to die, and leave me alone to suffer like mom and dad did? Do you really want to see me crumble piece by piece just so you can have satisfaction?" She didn't answer "You're the only one left. Do you really hate me? Am I nothing to you? Is this not the life you dreamed of? You're embarrassed of me, aren't you? You hate me!" He yelled, grabbing the plate from the floor and throwing it at the wall. The traumatized nine year old began to sob, the scene becoming too much for her, and guilt pouring in from his words. The taller man went down on his knees, holding Deirdre's face and wiping her tears "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry..you know I don't mean that, you know that I love you...I promise, I promise I'll be the best brother ever, but I have to find a cure for you, okay? I love you so much.." The blue eyed girl nodded "It's okay, I won't leave you, Lazarus.."

Once he calmed down, Lazarus prepared another breakfast for Deirdre and served it to her, but now he was currently in his laboratory. Pacing, and pacing, and pacing, the clock seemed to tick and annoy the insane doctor even more. Every click drove him more into the depths of insanity. He raised his fist and collided it with the object of time, his fist bleeding, but his brain content. He went towards his vinyl player and brought the needle down to the disc, instantly bringing the sound of classical music. Bandaging up from the activity that had been done earlier, the sleep deprived man opened a cabinet, grabbing a pack of papers covered in words "No one will ever understand my work.." He read through the papers, crumbling up a few and throwing them to the floor "They don't know why I do it..I do it all for you, Deir..." He felt a few tears trickle down, but he wiped them away, not wanting to display emotion while working. A needle fell off his desk, it had an orange glowing fluid "There you are! I was going crazy without you, I looked through countless pages to see if I wrote that I misplaced you." He picked up the tool and held it up, a maniacal smile on his face "Maybe you're the true cure, the only one who gets me." Then the sound of rolling interrupted his ideas. It was Deirdre, a tired look on her face "Laz..I'm tired, can you help me to bed..maybe even read me a bedtime story?.." Lazarus rubbed his head "Can't you just do it yourself, for god's sake?!" The young girl looked at the ground and shivered slightly "I would, but I would break my bones if I did.." The green eyed man went up to her and grabbed her arm "I don't care, you will go back to your room and do it yourself!" Deirdre yelled and cried "That hurts! Stop! You're breaking me!" He let go of her and formed a horrified expression upon his face "Oh god, I'm sorry..I'm so sorry, I'll help you to bed.." She rolled back and shook her head slightly "No, I can do it myself, you don't have to help me.." Then she disappeared into her room. Lazarus felt like he couldn't do anything today, so he went to bed, deciding sleep would suit him well for now.

A crash was what Deirdre would wake up to this morning. She didn't sleep too comfortably, seeing as she decided to not sleep on her bed due to yesterday's events. She rolled her wheelchair towards her brother's lab, the wheels constantly squeaking. The glass of beakers could be seen spread across the floor, Lazarus laying in this mess, hands red. He mumbled incoherent words to himself, the spotted his sister, a glare smacking itself onto his face "You..this is all your fault..I tried so hard to give you a better life but-" He rose up and had begun to limp his way towards her "You were never satisfied..never..." Deirdre rolled back "I- I am happy, I'm happy you're here with me..I'm happy you're trying to save me.." The mad man picked up a glass bottle and threw it at her, inflicting pain on her, but she prevailed, starting to head towards the front door "Come back!" Laz screamed. Deir continued to roll away, moving her hands on the keypad on the wheelchair as quickly as she could, creating friction on her fingertips. She sobbed, breath heaving heavily, almost choking her half the time. The doctor didn't seem to slow down, the anger in him boiling to it's maximum level "Get back here! You can't leave me!" The little girl didn't know how much longer she could keep this up until her hands went numb. Her hands completely broke, she almost forgot about her brittle bones in the whole rush. She threw herself off the wheelchair, knowing it would lead her nowhere, and then wiggled her body towards a tree. No matter how much she sobbed and pleaded, no one came. Lazarus caught up, raising his glass bottle one last time, then slamming it onto Deirdre's head.

Everything went black. Deirdre tried to look, but she couldn't move. Wait, who was she? What was her name? Is she even a human being? What was going on? Then the thoughts stop.
