Jaemin saw what he should not see, what nobody should see. He saw red, not everywhere, but he saw red strings. Red strings that connect two people together, but it was never always like this, he was normal.
Everybody in the world has a single red string tied to their thumb, connecting to their soulmate. Nobody ever knows who their soulmate is, some don’t even believe in it, saying that it’s just a mere myth, but Jaemin knows better, he knows the truth, well he does now.
He was walking to Mark’s house to see a movie, when he looked over at the road and saw flashes of colour coming from a shed, he knew he shouldn’t, he had talked about morals, right and wrong with the school counsellor multiple times, but he did it anyway. When he was only a few feet away from the shed, he heard a blood-curdling scream and that pierced his eardrums, terrified; he stumbled back and turned to bolt down the road to Mark’s house. Before he could get two strides in, he saw red strings appearing all over the road, spouting from the ground, through poles and benches, and going into houses. It was here when he realised that he was terribly alone.
Cautiously getting closer, he started to step over these strange red strings, sprouting from all over, he suddenly started to see them start to move, and he put his hands out in surprise at them moving at a walking pace, going through him as he stepped over them. Jaemin then spotted one of the red strings connected to his hand.
Realising that he could go through them and that he didn't need to manoeuvre around them, he sprinted the rest of the way to Mark’s house, remember when his uncle Taeyang, told him about this legend myth thing about red strings and soulmate years ago (he just thought he was insane). When he got to Marks' house, he knocked on the door, panting from running too far. Whilst he was impatiently waiting for him to open the door, he lifted his hands again, in awe and spotted a second string, connected to his other hand.
He had two soulmates? And why could he see it?
