Steve Rogers was not popular, let's get one thing straight. Aside from the fact that he was not straight. He looked like what should have been the popular guy everyone seemed to love, blonde hair blue eyes seemingly he was basically the look-alike of America's Golden Boy. however Steve was a skinny little shrimp, and tended to get picked on because of it. as much as Steve had tried to bulk up, you know, scratching off carbs and working out more, it never seemed to work. He just seemed to be a skinny little tree no matter what he did. 

 It seemed to Steve maybe he was getting punished for something. By God maybe, but in reality it was probably just because he was a skinny high schooler going through puberty still. 

On the opposite side of the scale however was tall handsome Bucky Barnes. on the football team, constantly had someone on his arm. It didn't matter what gender, everyone knew that Bucky didn't care. 

 It just so happened that Steve had a crush on Bucky, a big one, and this is what kinda made him question his sexuality. Why? Because before Bucky, he had had a crush on a girl named Peggy Carter. She had been a doll to say the least.  She had been a redhead, everything about her Steve thought appealing. however the year before, she had been into a car crash she had been driving with her then boyfriend, the name of which Steve didn't bother to find out or remember. But he had been devastated when Peggy had died. He thought that she deserved a longer life with someone better who hadn't gotten her into a fucking car crash. 

But Peggy was gone, and Steve hadn't really moved on, but Bucky had hit him hard and fast. So now Steve was hopelessly, haplessly in love. Or at least he figured he was. 

So Steve was sitting at lunch with his best friends, Clint Barton, Tony Stark, and Natasha Romanov, Clint's almost-girlfriend-but-they-won't-admit-they-like-each-other-friend. Tony, with his coal black hair and glinting brown eyes, was a real ladies' man himself. Clint, all brown hair and seriousness, had perhaps the best eyesight Steve had ever witnessed. And Natasha, with her red hair and insane flexibility-? 

Sometimes Steve felt alone, ordinary, out of place, so when the Bucky Barnes plopped down next to Tony that day, you can imagine Steve was a tad confused. 

"What's UP, Tony? We haven't seen you in fucking forever!" Bucky said, sitting down beside him. "Why don't you sit with us anymore?" 

"Bucky, all your friends are assholes," Tony said, poker face on. Bucky laughed. 

"So who are your new friends, then, Stark?" He said, looking them all over. Steve thought his eyes lingered on him, but maybe that was Steve's imagination. 

Tony sighed. "Okay. This is Natasha," he pointed and she barely glanced up from her phone. "Clint," he looked up and gave a halfhearted wave- "And Steve." Bucky grinned at him. 

"Stevie!" 

Internally, Steve sighed. Even if it was Bucky Barnes, he hated anyone calling him Stevie. But this was Bucky Barnes. So he just smiled a little and blushed. 

"Why haven't I seen you around here, blondie?" This guy and nicknames. But it was Tony who answered (again). 

"Maybe 'cause you don't take your head out of your ass long enough to look around," he said. Clint and Natasha laughed, Steve smiled at Tony. 

"You're funny, Tony," he laughed. "But I just took my head out of my ass so I could see this beauty-" he pointed at Steve. "So that's where you're wrong." 

Clint rolled his eyes. "Jesus Christ, Bucky. Ever try a simple 'Hi, I'm the world's biggest asshole, and you are-?'"

"Now why would you think that?" he asked, and turned to Steve, extending his hand across the table. "Hi, I'm the world's biggest asshole, and you are?" 

Steve laughed a little, taking Bucky's offer. "Steve Rogers." Only Bucky didn't let go after they had shaken. He looked at Steve and arched an eyebrow. 

"Shut up." Steve mumbled, and let go. The other boy laughed. 

"Oh, Stevie, we're going to be such good friends."
