Enya was about to start the 7th grade. It was going to be the most important time of her life. 12 years old is a very crucial age in one's life, especially Enya's.

She was going to face serious challenges in seventh grade such as, what to bring for lunch and if dyeing her hair green was a good idea. But the most important thing for her in 7th grade was that she had to come to terms with something she'd been struggling with for years: DIC.

Now you might be asking yourself, what is DIC? You're going to need a little bit of backstory to understand.

When Enya was a wee baby she was very hungry. She ate everything in sight, but gained absolutely no weight. This became a great concern to Enya's parents when the doctors told them that Enya only had 1% body fat.

Alas, Enya's mother had a plan: to feed Enya rocks until she was strong like a rock. It seemed reasonable enough, and it worked well. Enya became the strongest baby within a 2.4 block radius of her house. But there was a downside to all her rock eating... all of Enya's teeth decroded away.

Enya's teeth never grew back, so before she started kindergarten Enya's parents brought her to the dentist. The dentist told them that she was going to need dentures. The dentist examined Enya's teeth and gave her DIC.

DIC is a product to help dentures stay in. It stands for: Denture Insertion Cream, and it works pretty dang well. It comes in a cool plastic tube like toothpaste. It has a very nice texture. Squeezing the outside of your DIC can be quite pleasurable. It's a wonderful product because the second you put it in your mouth it hardens. This is great because you don't need to wait for your dentures to stick.

Anyways, back to the original story, Enya needed to come to terms with her DIC. Why? Because she was embarrassed of it. Being a 12 year old with dentures is understandably embarrassing, and Enya thought so too. But on the first day of school something changed Enya's mind...

The first day of school began like most other first days of school. Students crowded the halls, everyone was nervously sweating onto each other, the older kids were eating cheese from each other's toes to intimidate the younger ones, 6th grade parents were making out with their children before wishing them good luck on their first day, and the bubonic plague was spreading rapidly throughout the student body, but during homeroom something unusual happened.

Enya sat down next to the cute girl Mary who she'd talked to a couple times last year.

She gave Mary a half smile. Mary half returned it.

How awkward, Enya thought, but it wasn't as awkward as what was about to happen.

After 9 and a half minutes of dead silence between the two, Enya looked at Mary's crotch.

She was shocked by what she saw.

Mary was squeezing her you-know-what in the middle of class.

"Mary..." Enya whispered. "Is that your DIC?"

Mary looked up at Enya and her face turned bright red. She quickly put her DIC away, ashamed that she'd brought it out in class in the first place.

"Uh yeah..." Mary said with shame in her voice.

Enya awkwardly smiled at her. Enya's face got a little red too.

Enya felt bad for Mary. She must be missing teeth too, Enya thought. Enya understood how bad it was to have your dentures start to fall out in the middle of the day and the amount of shame that came with having to use DIC to stick them back on.

"Hey," Enya said. "It's all good. Don't worry about it... DIC is cool... like really cool..."

It was silent for a second. Uh oh, Enya thought. Enya worried that Mary didn't believe her or maybe Mary thought Enya was making a mean, sarcastic joke.

"I mean, like, I love DIC... DIC is just... the greatest... there is nothing better than having some DIC in your mouth when you're not feeling good..."

Mary nodded awkwardly.

"Okay bro," she said, wishing the conversation would end.

"I'm serious," Enya said. "DIC is like the most amazing thing ever..."

"Uh huh," Mary said.

"In fact," Enya began, her voice beginning to become a yell. "I WANT SOME DIC IN MY MOUTH RIGHT NOW!! I WANT TO FEEL IN HARDEN THE SECOND IT TOUCHES ME!!" Enya yelled.

The class went dead silent. Nobody said anything until the bell rang.

"Kay, gang!" Mr. Oberto said. "Homeroom is over, I'll see y'all tomorrow!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Later that night, Enya worried if she'd said the right thing during homeroom. Had she accidentally embarrassed herself, or worse, embarrassed Mary? Should she not have even mentioned to Mary that she'd seen her DIC out in class.
It was all very confusing, but even more confusing were Enya's feelings about Mary. Enya has never seen anyone's DIC before. Enya always felt so alone, but now, she felt a special connection to Mary. A feeling of safety and comfort. Enya felt feelings of love. All she could think about was how she'd give up anything just to see Mary's DIC one more time...
