The steps echoed down the hallway as she graciously tiptoed in the high heels she previously had trouble walking in. Her long wavy black hair gleamed in the moonlight and a small breeze made its way through the small crack in the long window. The window reached from the beginning of the hallway to the end and did not stop with the exception of the occasional crack that the football team on campus had managed to make.

The makeshift windowsill, of tape, was their idea of making it up to the school for destruction of property.

Of course they got away easily with the help of their coach, Mr Okamura.

Coach Okamura always favoured the team and they almost never got in trouble for their 'Mischiefing'.

Thinking about it, all teachers favoured students. Though that's not very rare, at least in Cora's class.

The gentle sound of mens dress shoes melting into her own snapped her out of her mindspace. The clear step of a man whisked a few metres behind her back as she immediately put her unusually resting mind on guard.

She knew full well that her father had opposing grounds and that she could be in constant danger because of it.

But she hadn't expected there to be enemies soughting her out at the day of the school ball. But of course, that would be an ideal choice.

Over the sound of the music there was basically nothing that could be heard, especially not from two floors above.

The ideal plan.

The man behind her still tried to sneak, a clear mark that he had yet to notice she knew about the oncoming assault.

The music changed to a more calm song, a classic if she had to guess. The image of couples of all sorts dancing passed through her head. For a moment she lost her composure, wishing it was her down there on the floor. With him.

A rumbling sound brought back her composure again as she realised how much of a mistake her slight lapse was. Her heart sped up drastically as she tried to calm her breathing.

The man, she noticed, was extremely apprehensive. Clearly his first time doing this.

His breath was slightly ragged as he tried to keep moving her exact movements.

She had a plan.

Bringing the glove covered hand to her carefully painted lips, she sighed and slowed down. She continued forward as she walked ever more delicately than needed, but yet something one would see in a movie. She remembered what her mother had taught her as a child.

"Shoulders back dear, yes. Stand up straight and... Twirl!"

And her father.

"Swiftly, yes, gracefully. Turn... And shoot!" Bang.

She stuck her free hand in her pocket, secretly bringing out a weapon, a norinco type 54, to be specific. Twirled gracefully, now facing the man completely, loaded, focused, and shot-

Bang.

The shot echoed through the hallways and she was almost certain it had even made its way to the ballroom. The man's body slumped against the windowsill, staining it with warm, red, blood. A tiny drop of sweat made its way down her eyebrow as she stared at the paling body. Blood now running down the corridor and met her white heels. She put the gun down into its holster and walked away, staining the hallway with blood red prints.
