“Ohmygoodness! I am so sorry!” The hot guy apologized, quickly offering me a hand up.

What guy says ‘ohmygoodness’?

“Uh, no big deal,” I responded accepting his held up. “I wasn’t looking where I was going, totally my fault.”

“Are you okay? Do you need to go to the nurse or anything?” He asked concerned.  It was kind of cute actually.

I laughed brushing off my jeans. “I’m fine, I trip over my own feet daily, this is nothing.”

I wasn’t kidding. I may do every sport known to man but that doesn’t mean I have any sense of coordination whatsoever. My friends back in Florida always used to marvel at my ability to trip on flat surfaces.

“I’m Katherine by the way.” I stuck out my hand before realizing most people don’t do that, but before I could retract it he grabbed my hand in his surprisingly soft one and shook it like it was the most common thing in the world.

“I’m Ian, can I call you Kat? “ Ian asked letting go of my hand.

“Yeah sure my best friend back home calls me that too.” I smile, happy to have some familiarity in this new town.

“So Kat, you gotta be new, cause I know just about every one of the pretty ladies at this school and I have never seen you ‘round here.” Ian’s voice was a little higher than normal pitch for a dude and it had a cute southern twang.

“Yup, I just moved in last weekend. This is a big school how is it that you know all of the girls?” Something was different about this guy; he wasn’t acting like your typical teenage male. We might just get along...

“Well when you are shunned by the male population you get to know the girlies pretty darn well.”

Then it clicked. “Wait, are you gay?” I asked before I my mind could tell my mouth to shut up. “Oh gosh, sorry that was rude!”

“Nah, its fine I don’t mind, its not like I’m embarrassed by it.”

I must have been beet red. I’ve always had trouble with that whole thought filter concept. If something popped into my head it usually exited through my mouth.

“That’s cool, I had a friend back home who got upset when I figured it out so I wasn’t sure if I’d offended you or anything.” I said relieved that he wasn’t upset. “Do you think you could help me find the office? This school is huge.”

“Sure.” He responded cheerfully (ugh another morning person). Hooking his arm through mine he led me back down the hall to the all glass windowed office.

“And this is our stop,” Ian intoned pretending to be a train conductor.

I giggled and thanked him. Ian reminds me of my dad. After entering the office I noticed the lack of people. ‘Hm, where’s the secretary?’ in pondered. I noticed a little bell on the counter and dinged it a couple times.

“Just a sec,” Came a muffled voice from behind a door. After a few seconds of shuffling a twenty something year old girl came out of the door looking a little disheveled.  Before I could wonder why, a gorgeous guy about my age came out of the door she had just exited adjusting his shirt and winking at the secretary. ‘Oh…’ I though.

“Bye Jason, hope that tutoring helps you out.” Said the twenty something year old in what I guessed was a sultry voice. To me it sounds like she has a rather nasty cold.
