"We are going out tonight," I hear Akosua say from her room. I groan and placed the book I am reading on the couch and got up for some water from the kitchen. On my way back to the living room I hear her again, "if you don't dress up by seven in the evening I will dress you up myself. So far as we both ladies it wouldn't be a problem and no excuses," she continues. Akosua can be very persuasive if she wants to be. Quite annoying I will say.
I live in a three bedroom apartment a little far from the AIS school in east legon with her and two other ladies, Jane and Abena who are sisters plus an extra bright, my closest male friend who has his own place but always wants to come and stay with us. The three are the outgoing ones, sociable and concern with outer affairs. I on the other hand is the opposite of everything they are. I'm an introvert. I like to keep to myself and stay focused on other things. I will rather stay indoors and read any book available than go out with these three musketeers or with rowdy people. Not that I don't like people, I just don't like the noise. I wouldn't have been a nurse if I didn't like people. I'm like that and nobody can change me.
"May I know where we are going please," I yell to Akosua. Her room is down the hall and I hope she heard me.
"Twist night club," she yelled back. What? A night club. I whisper because saying it loud will end some dirty words like her popular saying, 'it's not like we are going to fuck each other there,' and I'm not ready for her to be to me this afternoon. She mostly says this whenever she wants to go out with me and I refuse.
"Where is it located and I hope we will be back by nine because I have a morning shift tomorrow," I yell back and waited for a while but there was no responds and I took it as maybe she was asleep and continue reading my book. Thus girl can sleep like a log. I scream when I feel a pillow thrown at me and immediately knew who did it because Akosua is the only one I'm in the house with right now and I look up to see her standing above me. "What the hell was that." I ask in a hush tone. I was so angry that she did that.
"You are such a liar you know." She cried. I didn't say anything wrong or did I. "You told me you will be having afternoon shift tomorrow young lady plus who goes to the club and comes back at that time. We aren't sixteen okay," she continued. I don't remember telling her that earlier. Oh God, I just lied to my friend. Me and my forgetfulness. I wanted a way to escape but this time it didn't favour me.
"I promise it's going to be fun and I will protect you from all the guys and no alcohol I promise please. And it's located at Labone." She said in a sad tone.
"That far. Hmmm ok fine I will come but are those two naughty girls coming too," I ask meaning Jane and Abena.
"Of course they are coming. Those two can't live without their momma."
"And who is that momma."
"I girl, the only Akosua, black and gorgeously beautiful." She answered leaving me in the living room to her bedroom. Huh, of course she's their momma. She controls all of us. I think she even wishes she can control the whole universe and oh she said gorgeously beautiful. I hope that's a correct English because meaning of gorgeous is very beautiful so they are the same words but this girl just says anything that comes to her mind.
I check the time on the clock hanging above the television on the living room wall and it is 5pm already two more hours to go. I read for a while and went to the kitchen to get something to eat because I didn't want to be hungry when we get to the club.
