dark to bright,
"no" to "what,"
heavy to light.
my feet walked on soft, unreal floors,
dizzy and light-headed.
again, I looked around,
eyes surely closed.
he stands there,
smiling without any old pages
in his beautiful hands.
never it occurred
that the dark edges of my sight
told me I'm hugging a pillow.
it was all haunted
but has never felt so.
stepping on the clouds;
the footboard has my toe.
rainbows never go away;
it takes every word I say
for it gives you this candy
in your mouth.
and it wasn't as harmful
as it has always seemed.
so you sip on it
and savor
the flavor
of the dreamy world
you find underneath
your eyelids,
deep in your pillows.
invisible countdown,
uncertain moments.
say hello;
pretend there're
no good-byes
before you find
the hard candy
melting out
of reality.
