Three weeks later...
Leytonstone, East London
February 16th, 1995

I met him in a crowded room
Where people go to drink away their gloom

The music blared in my headphones, making me forget the pain in my legs. Sweat beaded my forehead as I ran. My eyes darted down to my Walkman, making sure it didn't fall out of my pants. The weather wasn't the best to run in, since it was February. It was quite cold outside, but I had to get back in shape for summer.

It had been about three weeks now since I had met Damon, but he never called. I wanted to call but I couldn't get the courage to. Though, I missed Alex too. I think I was just tired of being lonely.

He sat me down and so began
The story of a charmless man

Seeing my house come back into view, I decided to start slowing down my pace, panting heavily. I was out of breath and my nose was so cold to the point where it hurt.

Reaching for my front door, I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. Pulling it out, I saw a random number calling. Since I was curious I decided to answer.

"Helloooo?" I began. Waiting for an answer, I used my key to unlock my door.

"Uh, is this Y/n?" I heard a familiar voice ask. A smile spread across my face as I recognized that voice as Damon's.

"Y-Yeah. Hey Damon." Finally getting inside, I closed the door behind me. I took my coat off, throwing it onto my couch.

"You recognize my voice? That makes me q-quite happy." Damon giggled. His giggle was contagious, making me smile to myself.

"Why'd you call?" I chatted, making my way to the kitchen.

"Well, I actually had a lot of fun the other day. L-Like I said, I want to see you again. Uhhh, would you like to go to that bar called... Bottoms Up...?" I could hear he was nervous.

"Yeah, sure. When?" I couldn't help but feel excited. Damon was a fun guy and I did want to see him again, even though I barely knew him.

"Tonight? Since it's Friday, you're not b-busy are you?" Damon asked. I shook my head in response, but then remembered he couldn't see me.

"No. I'm free tonight. What time should we go?" Tapping my fingers against my kitchen table, I waited for Damon to answer.

"How about 8?"

"Sure."

Now it was awkwardly silent. Trying to make it less awkward, I coughed, catching Damon's attention. It took me a minute to think of something to say.

"Well, I'm going to go get ready for our special night." I laughed. Damon chuckled on the other end.

"If that's what y-you want to call it." Damon joked. I giggled. We then decided it was best to hang up now.

"Alright, I'll see you tonight." Damon agreed with me.

"Yeah, see you tonight, Y/n." Then he hung up. I sighed, setting my flip phone down on the table. I checked my watch. 6:30 PM.

Before heading upstairs, I grabbed a granola bar off the counter, unwrapping it.

-smol time skip-

It was now 7:00. I had gotten distracted while watching TV. Heading to the bathroom, I grabbed my makeup bag and my hair brush.

Stepping outside the bathroom for a quick minute, I turned my stereo on, putting in a randomly picked Beatles CD. The music started playing and I happily made my way back to the bathroom.
