Hunting season:
Ambrose Odinson and Angel Laufeyson had a job to do. According to legend, the Mare was due to begin hunting season once again. The Mare induces bad dreams, and sits on the mortal's chest. These bad dreams can be used to manipulate powerful entities. Many people (and things) have been redesigned over the years, mostly in the Mare's favor. The Mare changes things to what it wants. Good, bad, immortal. Mostly the second.
Amber and Angel had been told to find a team of heroes to stop the creature.
The two arrived at a remote farm, many buildings clustered together, surrounded by fields of cereals. When they came down from Asgard, they certainly weren't expecting this- more the Avengers Headquarters, not a bunch or barns and old houses-
Angel looked around, more than confused.
A door swung out from Amber's left, the goddess barely dodging it.
"Who are you?" A voice yelled.
"Ambrose Odinson and Angel Laufeyson," Amber answered.
A body followed the voice, in a coat collared with a black lion's mane. The man who wore it stood tall, black leather pants low on his hips.
"What do you want?" He asked, baring knives as teeth.
A dark lion's tail swished side to side behind him, as his eyes closed in on the goddesses.
"We've come for help. The Mare has been unleashed, and it is hunting season. If we don't stop it, we'll have an even bigger problem," The man sighed.
"I'm Aiden. Come in, I guess."
Amber and Angel hesitantly followed, Angel quirking an eyebrow at the lion's tail. It seemed to have a mind of its own, nearly knocking over multiple weapons in the brightly lit hallway.
"Welcome, to S.H.I.E.L.D. Beta," Aiden announced.
They had come to a halt in a large hall were the space opened out, couches and armchairs surrounding a large TV. A bookshelf was filled with movies, and Amber nearly shrieked as a voice seemed to come from the ceiling.
"Good evening, newcomers,"
Angel poked Amber's arm, laughing quietly.
Aiden flopped onto one of the couches, swiping his hand down his other wrist to his hand and beginning to type something.
"Oh. That's Vulpecula,"
"Fox," Angel muttered. Aiden nodded.
"Phoenix named her. He's a fan of astronomy. And science. He's probably down in the lab." He swiped the opposite way on his arm, then stood up.
"Fox, tell Phoenix we've got guests,"
"Yes, sir,"
Aiden walked over to a door, waiting for it to open, then going through it. Angel and Amber followed, watching as Aiden grabbed four bottles of soda from the fridge.
"Tony won't let us have alcohol, since we sometimes have the tiny spider round," Aiden said as he rolled his eyes, partly unscrewing the caps and passing them to the goddesses.
They each shrugged and took a sip, Amber shaking her head.
"What is this mortal drink?"
"Sprite, Ambrose. It's a pretty common thing-"
Amber shrugged, taking another sip.
Angel facepalmed.
"You sound just like Uncle Thor when you say that."
Amber shrugged yet again.
Angel sighed, about to speak again when the kitchen door opened.
A boy stood there, a light shining from beneath his shirt.
"Hey. I'm Phoenix Stark, son of Tony Stark."
He offered a hand, and Amber shook it first, and the boy raised his eyebrows as he jumped at her strength. He then noticed Mjölnir by her side.
"Isn't that Thor's?" He asked, intrigued.
"Yeah. He gave it to me. Got a new one or something." She said proudly, smiling.
"I've met him a few times. Never seen him without it-"
He furrowed his brows.
"Do I know you? I swear I've seen you somewhere-"
Angel frowned.
"No- She's Ambrose Odinson, and I'm Angel Laufeyson,"
Phoenix let out a loud laugh.
"You're goddesses? That explains Mjölnir! And your bloody coat-" he said loudly, pointing at Angel's fur collar.
Angel nodded, stuffing her hands in her coat pockets.
"Goat fur," she said. Aiden furrowed his brows.
"How the-" Angel shrugged her shoulders.
"Anyway, we need help. Ever heard of the Mare?"
Phoenix nodded.
"Makes nightmares to use as manipulation? Yeah I've heard of it,"
"It's hunting season,"
Phoenix sighed in response.
"Fox, call Callie,"
"Calling Callie," Vulpecula replied, entering into a video call on the large TV.
Angel and Amber Rose in intrigue, Phoenix laughing.
"And here I thought you two would be more adapted than Thor and Loki."
A woman with curly blonde hair sat up straight as she looked into the camera.
"Phoenix, Aiden. Who's with you?"
"Amber Odinson,"
"Angel Laufeyson,"
"Oh! Thor and Loki's daughters? Loki's here right now- Thor's been on Asgard for a few months now,"
Loki appeared on the TV, waving at the four. He grinned brightly at Angel.
"Hey!" Angel said, smiling.
"What's up kid?" Loki replied, sitting on the arm of the couch.
"We're getting a team together to deal with the Mare, like Uncle Thor said," Loki smiled in response.
"Well, I'll leave you to it,"
Loki got up and left.
"The Mare?"
Amber nodded, explaining what it was.
Callie grimaced.
"I'll ask dad if he can find anyone else to help out."
"Ask if the tiny spider can come too. He's good,"
Callie nodded.
"I'll come to Beta either today or tomorrow, depends."
Aiden shook his head in agreement.
The call ended, and we stood up.
