Have you ever felt a mix of feelings that shouldn't be combined? Because Leo has. Leo lived his life in constant fear. His beloved mother, who was an alcoholic, always promised the pain would end and she would get better. Though every night her promise is broken, and every morning on her way to work she sends the fake promise through his ears again. Leo has become numb to his mothers meaningless promise, so he takes the courage he has and plans to mention her disgusting problem tonight. He hopes that this talk will keep anymore scars from appearing.  The scars he has, the ones he hides, are from his mother. The woman who claims to love him, but also the same woman who snips his life away each night.  These scars he hides are drowning his pale skin; thinking how easy it is to hide his body scars, he cant hide the sunken features from his lack of sleep and crying. Refusing to leave his room, he stays in the corner between his dresser and bed; watching the clock tick until the clock chimed the hour five pm. The courage he had hours ago instantly sucked out of him as he heard the front door open.  He heard the door nearly bust into the wall from the force his mother inserted on it, and he listens to the echo fill the silent house.  As he held his breath and waited for her to slam the door behind her and make her way to his room; however, the door never clicked and everything felt off. Leo stood in the corner of his room and then made his way to his door way to see what was causing his mothers delay. As  he approached the opening of the door he saw his mother lying on the floor; her face was hidden behind all of her thick curls. Though he loved his mother, he felt such a strange sense of closure- a feeling of happiness.  He kneeled  by his now dead mother and brushed the curly hair back to expose her now pale face, and the scent of rum filled the air that arose when the hair was moved away from her mouth ; seeming as if it were her last. He showed a face of disgust before getting up to leave her side, yet he felt closure he also felt a sudden feeling of painful sadness. He felt tears leave his eyes and burn at his already raw skin, and now the pain of loneliness took over him. Knowing his mother will never make a fake promise but he wanted it. He wanted her back. He would let the scars cover his skin and he would cry in fear for her. Now she is gone and he can't and even though he wanted her gone he takes it back. A mother is what he wanted, a father too but now he gets nothing. He planned on calling someone to get her body when he woke up the next morning, that is if he wakes up. To try and calm his nerves he made his way to the kitchen and poured himself a glass of wine, the same one his mom and dad used to drink when he was younger. He stared at the red liquid for so long he felt sick, then threw the glass to the floor and watched it shatter. This made him sad but also happy, then as if a dream came true he went to lay on the couch and watch tv to put himself asleep since his mother no longer  could, and he waited for morning.
