Kada hated family gatherings, there was nothing pleasing about it , it was just an escuse to share thoughts of comparison of who was more likely to suceed on life and she hated that.
If she was able she would run away from this toxic family and do what she wanted, how she wanted without being compared to someone else.
It was risky.
She was just a 15 year old . There was nothing she could do. To her it was just a dream and the reality was she couldn't.
As she took her seat next to Pate, a family friend her father had invited to the gathering.
Pate was father's way to a huge contract that could make him richer. He was the son of a very wealthy and known business man from Italy.
His uncle was Father's most trusted friend , a relationship between a billionaire and a painter.
Quite sketchy.
Kade didn't want anything to do with her father's work. She sat there looking blankly at everyone. Everyone was dressed their finest. Rich italian suits, silk shirts , it looked more of a business meeting than a casual gathering.
'Who is that ,' whispered Pate from Kade's side.
Pate felt more comfortable with Kade than anyone there. It would have been a different story if everyone was not an adult.
Kade wanted to this end as quickly as it started. She watched Mr Midleson the wealthiest man in the family walk in. He looked sophisticated they looked poor compared to him.
So what if he spoke 7 languages Kade could speak 5.
"He is Uncle Midleson but he prefers Mr Midleson he likes being professional," Kade replied in a whisper only Pate could hear.
Pate looked him up and down, he looked unimpressed maybe it was because he has been in the same room with people of much hire status.
They both wished they could be anywhere else but there but atleast they had each other.
This meeting was not like any other and since her Father thought of her as an adult she had to join.
