Chapter 7

The Telling

Elara woke up feeling sick. How could she hide Vangard from Jay and Nathan when all three of their lives depended on him? She made up her mind. She was going to tell them everything, regardless of Vangard's warnings, then, have a little chat with Ricky. But she had to see what she could get out of him without Ricky getting suspicious.

Elara: Guys I have something to tell you. Please don't be mad at me.

Elara looked down scared of their reaction. She just hoped they would understand.

*Later*

Jay: Okay. So this creepy guy who Ricky said was dead is actually alive and is talking to you through your chip in your dreams.

Nathan: And Avery is planning on brain controlling us by turning on our chips without us knowing.

Elara: Correct. But i don't know who to trust. Vangard kinda scares me and Ricky could be lying. Ugh what do I do??

Elara put her head in her hands and her shoulders slumped. Jay and Nathan sat at either side of her and squeezed her between them.

Jay: Hey don't worry. We'll figure this out together. To be honest I'm glad you told us. Now we can make our own game plan instead of listening to everyone else.

Nathan: Jay's right. Sticking together is our most important asset right now. Its our advantage over The Fire Crows and Todeszirkus.  

Elara: Yeah you guys are right. I just feel so drained and I just woke up. Why don't we fake being ill today and not do anything.

Elara had a mischievous smile on her face as she looked between her brother and best friend. They stared back grinning with a genuine smile for the first time in too long.
