The Story Begins

New Life - Chapter 1

July 1st, MMIV

On a rainy Summer day two fox kits were born, one male and one female. The one that is a female is named Forest. The one that is a male is named Oak. Forest snuggles closer to her mother for warmth. Her mother named Rose leans down and licks her in between the ears. Rose pulls Oak closer with her tail and Oak lets out a little whimper. Rose looks at him "Hush little one, you're okay." She licks him on top his head and he goes back to sleep. Rose rests her head on her paws and she drifts off into a deep sleep.

July 30th, MMIV  

Forest's Pro

I woke up to the sound of Oak calling my name. "Forest! wake up let's go outside to explore." I whimper "I don't want to..." I feel him pull my tail with his teeth. I open my eyes and look at my mother.  She looks back at me and shakes her head "Come on Forest get up and go with your brother." I sigh "Fine." I get up and walk outside of our den. I felt the sun start to warm up my pelt. I look back at Oak and tilt my head "Where do you want to go?" He looks at me and says "Let's go deep in to the woods!" I stared at him with shock "B-But mom told us not to go far." He laughs at me "Oh come on don't tell me you're scared and who cares what mom says." I look at him "I'm not scared and you should care about what mom says!" He snorts "Fine I'll just go by myself" I watch as he starts to walk away and I call after him "Wait!" He turns around and I yell "I'll come with you!" I run to catch up with him.

-A few minutes later-

Oak suddenly stopped in his tracks. I stopped and he turned around and he said "Be very quiet." He started walking again and I followed him. He stopped again in front of a cave and I looked at him and whispered "Oak what are you doing." He looked at me "I'm going into that cave." I looked back at the cave "But what if there is something in there that could kill us." He rolls his eyes and goes into the cave. I sat down and waited for him to return.

I went into the cave leaving Forest behind. She is such a baby when it comes to things like this! I went farther into the cave and I picked up a strange scent. I padded forward and suddenly I heard a deep growl. My fur started to prickle and I whimpered a little. I stepped forward a little until I bumped into something. The creature that was in the cave turned around and tried to bite me. I turned around and started running. I finally made it the entrance of the cave. I saw Forest and I yelled "Run!" she got up and started running back to our den. I looked behind me and was in shock the creature that was chasing us was a bear! I kept running trying to catch up with Forest. I said to myself "I should have listened to Forest and my Mother."

I kept running and finally I seen our den in sight. I yelled "Mother, help us!" My mother appeared from our den and she looked at me with confusion. I stopped in front of her and told her what happened. She looked furious and she said "What did I tell you two about running off into the woods!"  I sighed and looked down at the ground "I told Oak that we shouldn't go because we would disobey you." My mother said "So you went anyways. Forest I thought you were better than that." I looked up at her "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to let you down." My mother pulled me close and she said "It's alright. I forgive you." Oak came running towards us and he said "The bear it's coming!" My mother looked at us "Okay, I want you two in the den right now. I don't want you to get hurt." Oak looked at her "B-But what about you." She looked back at him "I'll be okay. Now go." I nudged Oak forward into the den and I looked back at my mother again. She was facing the woods waiting for the bear to appear. I went into the den and laid down beside Oak. I soon fell asleep and was dreaming about my mother coming face to face with the bear.

Note: Hello! This is my first story. I'm sorry that the first chapter is short but I will have more in my next chapters. I hope you guys enjoy the story and let me know what you think. I will come out with the next chapter soon!
