chapter 1

Annabel;

Thinking is all that is occupying my mind at this exact moment.I am currently in the back of an uncomfortable yellow taxi with some old symphony music playing on the radio.I'm on my way to the airport to fly and visit New York , where my best friend I haven't seen in what feels ages is currently living.

I live in Florida , on the opposite side to where my friend Joci moved to this summer after graduating high school.Surprisingly the drive to the airport wasn't as long as I expected it to be. Making it a relief ,because car rides make my stomach feel like it's spinning in circles.Which is an awful feeling I really dislike with a passion.Soon I started seeing various signs signaling many airport directions and information,meaning that I would arrive any moment.

A couple of minutes later the taxi came to a halt .The taxi driver helped me take my extremely heavy weighted luggage out of the car trunk. Thanking him I gave the driver the money for the ride and soon he hopped in his car and drove away.The airport doors automatically swooped open instantly feeling the cold breeze run through my knitted sweater , soon to feel soft goosebumps form on my skin.

I finally arrived in the city I have been wishing to visit practically all my life.The number of people here is mind blowing and astonishing.I quietly whisper to myself "welcome to New York Annabel."

I quickly hustle to grab my luggage and take the first vibrant taxi out of the many waiting outside of the airport.I gave the taxi driver the address Joci texted me earlier today before I left Florida.

The silent and awkward ride to Joci's home was about twenty minutes away from the airport . I take a glance out the window and I see such a beautiful setting. All the different trees and the buildings were just breath taking.I arrive at the apartment building my best friend lived in and thanked the taxi driver for the ride with a decent amount of money.I gather all of my belongings and take a moment to look around at the vintage brick buildings.

I decide to go up the stairs to the second floor and start to search for Joci's apartment number. I observe the numbers increasing signaling that I was going the right direction. Soon I stop at apartment 218C .I lightly knock on the wooden door waiting patiently to see my best friends face. I hear foot steps coming towards the door making the butterflies in my stomach go wild.The door unlocks and opens slowly to reveal Joci with the largest smile plastered on her face .The next thing that came in contact with me was her arms around my neck receiving a tight embrace.

"Oh Annabel , I have missed you so much." Joci mumbled into my sweater.I saw happy tears were starting to form on the corner of her shiny brown eyes.

"Its been so long Joci I have missed you loads ." I said giving her once another hug.
