Cherry Blossom, a 16 year old girl, had no clue what was about to take place in her life. She just wanted out of the house. Her little sister, Apple, at seven and half, was mostly no fun. The older girl had freedom to roam and she was going to take it. There was no school today and she had to leave her yard to escape that little pest, so since it seemed her sister was in another part of the house, she opened the door and headed down the street.
As Cherry walked past an old building, she heard sounds. She wondered what was going on there. I'll have to check this out, she thought as she opened the door and walked in. One light seemed to be on. She heard somebody screaming, followed by wailing. The sounds seemed to come from the top of the stairway she saw. She climbed the stairs and saw a dark-haired person sitting in a chair in a tiny room with a cracked open door looking at something. After taking a few steps into the room, she saw the person was a boy slightly older than herself, his deep blue eyes teary.
Cherry asked the boy, "Who are you and what makes you cry?" and said "I'm Cherry and I'm 16.5." She couldn't stand people crying. He took out his hanky, wiped his face, and blew his nose loudly. HONK!
"William and I'll be 18 soon", he said softly and brokenly. "And I cry because of how it was. Our country wasn't always this way. It was different, decades ago. I come to this building often, to use this device I found in this room. It can play videos and display pages to read, including ones from InterNetherWorld. InterNetherWorld's the secret Internet. Every chance I get, I come here to see history I can't otherwise see. I love/hate it. I mean, I love to find out how it was, but I hate how it is now, so I can't come here without hankies. I'm a soft-hearted guy." He told Cherry "You could find out, if you want, what I know" and since she did, he asked her long she was freed up. She could get food without going home, so she was free to be there all day.
"I don't have to be home until it's time to get ready for bed, since I'm 16. Have been for 6 months", Cherry said. William seemed so upset to her, with his broken voice and the way he kept pausing to dry his tears and honk his nose. She could see he had a different personality compared to her. Her personality was stronger, more fiery and rebellious. All she knew was her country was different before Civil War II and had a civil war centuries before the one that made it like it was, since that was all her history class taught regarding that time. But now, she was ready to find out the truth about how it was before Civil War II, which occurred in 2025. Was the footage from the, to her, murky past or was it fake? Supposedly, it showed how life in her country was in the time her school history class left out, except Civil War I, as her teacher had called it. Civil War II, she knew had been caused by the people outside the cities disagreeing with the cities. The cities won and ever since then, her country was either on the way to its current state or else the way she knew it. History class at her school had taught her about Civil War II on. They were just her city and her country to her, until now, due to what William told her.
In this future, there's no tissues, just hankies, at least where the Blossom family and William live. The past iteration of their country's not to be let out, but it's on something akin to our time's Dark Net. Until now, all I've created online is fanfics, parallel universe with me as a character or poems. What do you suggest I edit, if anything and what should I do next? I plan to reveal the names of her city and country next, an attempt at suspense/cliff hanger.
