Today, I was awoken by my mother letting me know that I need to go buy food. We aren't very wealthy so if we were to buy food it would be out the change we could find in our pockets. I threw on some clothes and a sweater then went off. It was a cold morning, colder than usual. There were also some wolves around, which didn't bother me. Other mei'fwa had their opinions on the wolves though, not all of which were very positive. I walked farther into the village to find a food stand. Since it was still early some of the food stands were closed. So I just stood around to see if their were any open food stands. Then I heard my phone vibrate so I took it out of my pocket to see a message from my mother. Apparently my little brother Leo was ill. Nervous, I spaced off after I read the message while walking, that's when I bumped into him. I fell to the floor and looked up. It was a wolf. He lowered his hand to help me up. I hesitantly took his hand. I could see that he noticed that I was in bad shape, bags under my eyes, ripped up pants, messy hair, etc. "You okay?" He asked, "You seem out of it." I looked at him and nodded. He told me his name was Luke. In response I told him that my name was Noah. We decided to hangout together. Which we started getting along really well! After a while he offered me some money to help me afford food and medicine. I wanted to reject his offer but seeing the state I was in I accepted. We walked around the village some more, that's when I noticed his hand removing my hood. I wanted to stop his hand but I was too slow. He noticed that I had cat ears, "You should keep your hood off more often, your ears are cute." He commented, I couldn't help but blush a little bit. I hugged him and whispered, "Thank you for not running, you're the only friend I've managed to make." I noticed his shocked expression, it then faded into a gentle look. We both smiled at each other and continued to walk. He walked me home and waved goodbye. I waved back. Then I walked inside. My mother looked at me with a stern book. She took the bags out of my hands roughly. "You've disappointed me once again. Hanging out with a wolf?!? Are you kidding me?!?" I looked back at her, "Mother, I'm sor-," "I don't care about your apologies, what can I expect from you gays." Although I was gay, it wasn't that bad, was it? I couldn't help but cry. I ran to my room and felt even worse about myself. Why couldn't I be more like Leo. Mother loves Leo, why not me? What if I were to get sick, would she send Leo to get medication for me? Why must the world be so cruel. The only thing that kept me from doing something worse was Luke. I knew it from my first sight of him, that I had feelings for him. Before falling asleep I had the thought of whether he would love me back lingering in my mind. Before I fell asleep I heard loud banging on the door. I wouldn't know what it was until tomorrow.
