"Wake up, we're going on a patrol." Thornpaw gently prodded Sunpaw awake. "Cool." Sunpaw looked sleepily up at her denmate, then curled up again. "Fire!" Thornpaw joked. Sunpaw jolted awake, her tortoiseshell fur fluffed up. She quickly scampered outside straight into Thrushstar, her father. "Uh...uh... Morning, father!" She stuttered. Thrushstar smiled down with affection at his daughter, then walked on to share tongues with his mate, Echobreeze. "Wait a second... Thornpaw! There is no fire!" She glanced suspiciously at him. He laughed. "Sorry, I was trying to get you out of the den." "Oh." She looked up at him. "Sunpaw!!!!!" Marblekit called out to her sister, racing out of the nursery, followed by Chickadeekit and Almondkit. "Run." Whispered Sunpaw, fleeing from the pursuing kits. Thornpaw laughed, and caught up to her. "Head for the heather at the edge of camp." Sunpaw nudged him playfully as the two Windclan apprentices sped through the camp, lucky that running was one of their clan's strengths. The kits fell back, stumbling on their paws. "Woah!" Sunpaw huffed when they had reached the heather. "So much excitement and its only dawn! I LOVE it!" She giggled. "Where were you?!?" Swiftfoot glared at the two apprentices, stalks of heather cracking as he snuck out behind them. Dawnstripe was behind him. "I expected more of you, Thornpaw." She frowned at her son, ginger pelt flashing in the sun. "Sorry." Thornpaw looked down at his paws. "They're only apprentices," Ravenpelt followed Dawnstripe out. "Let them have some fun." Swiftfoot huffed, nodding for his patrol to go. When the warriors were farther ahead, Sunpaw whispered in Thornpaw's ear. "Sorry I got you into this mess." Thornpaw flicked his tail across her pelt. "No worries." He smiled. Sunpaw looked up suddenly, ears strained toward the RiverClan border. "Wolfpaw!" She squealed happily, rushing to greet her friend. Wolfpaw's ice blue eyes brightened as she saw her tiny friend racing across the moor to greet her. The two she-cats tumbled around playfully with each other, laughing. Pinestream, the RiverClan deputy, purred in amusement, greeting the WindClan patrol warmly. WindClan and RiverClan had been allies ever since Wolfpaw and Sunpaw were kits, so the cats mingled together, greeting friends, purrs rising in each cat's throat. "How's Splashpaw?" Sunpaw asked the silver and gray she-cat, catching up on her friend's life. "Oh, it's all good." She said vaguely, flexing her long claws in a stretch. "I see that you two are having fun." Pinestream purred, sneaking up from behind to nuzzle her daughter, Wolfpaw. "Ugh, go away!" Wolfpaw laughed, wriggling away.
