Alarms are so dumb. Why do alarms have to exist? Like right now, I was having a really great dream about this really gorgeous guy dancing with me at a party, so why should alarms exist and ruin the only time I have a guy?
I open my crusty, morning eyes and slam my hand under my pillow in search of my phone and shut off the damn alarm that's blaring so loud that all of California could hear.
Finally, Jesus, you would think I would've been smart last night and turned off my alarm since it's Saturday and I don't need to get up, but noOOo I'm an idiot. Also, my back is really warm, but why?
With my eyes barely open I shuffle my body from lying on my right hip to my left hip and literally bump into a body. Not a dead body, but like a breathing one. Right there. On the left side of my bed. He's just chillin', most likely still asleep.
"What the hell?" I let the words stumble off of my tongue and bounce in his direction.
Wait, shit, Cassidy why would you fricking say something?? What happens if he wakes up? Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god....
He starts to shift his weight.
WHAT DO I DO?!
I quickly, and stealthily, slam my head back down onto my pillow and shut my eyes.
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god.
He turns over, yawns, and rubs his eyes. Then, he looks straight in my direction. I can feel his stare through my eyelids.
Fuck it.
I try to open my eyes as if it's the first time I've opened them this morning, but I never was good at pretending so he's probably onto me now. Of course, right when I open them, this insanely cute, tan boy with dark brown hair and gorgeous eyes is sitting up with his head over his shoulder looking at me.
"Oh, uh, hi." He chuckles softly and brings his hand up to hold the back of his neck.
Damn, hey cutie. I try to look less surprised and awe-struck that this guy is just sitting in my bed shirtless. "Hey..." I also release an awkward chuckle.
"Uh, I'm assuming this is your place? It doesn't really look like mine.." He gives a little smile. Okay, have fucking perfect teeth too that's fine.
"Yeah...hey you don't remember last night by any chance do you? Because I don't even remember my name." I'm genuinely curious about how I managed to get this guy in my house, let alone my bed.
"Actually, I remember some pieces. Like how your name is Cassie, I think, and that we didn't have sex or anything..? I'm pretty sure we just met at some party at your neighbor's and drank a lot and came here to talk and then fell asleep?" He moves his body around so he's facing me now.
"Oh, gotcha. Um, and it's actually Cassidy, not Cassie, but you were close. And I'm sorry, you are..."
"Colby. Colby Brock."
"Nice to meet you, Colby. Well I mean, I guess we met last night, but I don't really remember any of it so that's what I meant when I said that, but you remember last night so you probably think it's weird that I said that...." My words trail off.
"It's nice to meet you too, Cassidy."
He holds out his hand for an offer for me to shake it. I push myself into a criss-cross-applesauce sitting position and look down at his hand. His wrist has got some tiny scars on it, so when I reach out mine, which looks similar, I feel less judged. Our hands embrace and tingles run up my arm and towards my heart. I look up at his eyes and examine everything there is to see. We don't break eye contact for what seems like forever, but also what seems like not-long-enough.
Colby's mouth forms into a smirk and looks down at our hands. He squeezes my hand slightly before he drops it. I'm still staring with soft eyes at the top of his messy bed head.
Did I mention he was shirtless? Normally, I don't fall for guys with tattoos, but there was just something about his that attracted to me.
"So. Um I think I should probably go.." He chuckles and stares back up to me.
"Uh.. yea! I mean if you wanna. I mean... like I could make you breakfast first or something if you wanted instead." I realllyyyy don't want him to go yet. There's so much that I'm curious about. Also, that sucks we didn't hook up or anything... Oh well, another time I guess ;) 😂
"Oh, really? Well I guess it depends on what you're making!" He stands up and turns towards me with his hand out. I grab it and slide off my bed. I realize I'm wearing a cropped white shirt with no bra, and my black underwear. Nothing scandalous just a little bit cheeky for someone to see that I'm not hooking up with, you know.
"Oh uh sorry let me put some shorts on haha." I awkwardly shuffle towards my dresser and bend down to the fourth drawer to grab a pair of nike, black shorts. I turn around to see Colby quickly pretend like he wasn't just staring at my ass. "Mhm," I say after I've slipped on the shorts and walk past him while giving him a glare.
He clears his throat and then says, "So, Cassidy, what's on the menu? I'm starving." For some reason he emphasizes my name, probably because he got it wrong the first time but ya know whatever.
"Well, Colby," I emphasize his name the same way, "I've got Eggo blueberry waffles and hash-browns. Anything sound good?" I hold up the frozen goods and stare at his insanely beautiful eyes.
"All of ittttt." He pretends to drool over the items and I quickly serve them up. Can I also just say THANK GOD for toasters because microwave waffles could never against crunchy waffles.
