The Distance Between Us

Chapter 1

  Beep,beep,beep,beep.
 
  My alarm clock is so annoying. It's Staurday, I don't have to wake up yet. Why did I even set my alarm clock last night. All of a sudden my memory comes rushing back. I jump out of bed and ran straight to my parents room only to see they aren't there. I quickly run down the steps into the kitchen and find my parents havi g breakfast.

  "Mom, dad, today is the day."

  "We know sweetheart. That's whywe are up so early." My mom says.

  My parents are going to Hawaii for two months. Also, my sister, Elizabeth is going to her friends house until they return.

  So that means I get the house all to myself. For some teenagers that means throwing a party but not me. I'm not a popular girl. I'm Alexus White, the nerd. So, I won't be throwing any parties.

  "We are leaving in ten minutes, and your sister is leaving in five. She's in the living room waiting. Go tell her bye." My mom says snapping me out my thoughts.

  I walked into the living room to see my sister sitting on the couch looking out the window.

  "Are you that eager to leave already?"

  "Sorry sis. I'm just so excited to be spending two mo that with Jen."

  Jenna Morgan. Also know as Jen to Elizabeth. Jen is the same age as me,16, while Elizabeth is only 14... Well, she turns 15 next week.

   "Are you coming over for your birthday?"

  "I don't know yet. It depends on if Jen has plans to do something."

  Honk, honk. A horn goes off outside.

  "She's here. Mom, dad, Jens here."

  My mom and dad walk into the living room.

  "We love you. See you when we get back." My parents say as they hug my sister.

  She grabs her bags and heads put the door. She puts her bags in the car and waves one last time. It would be sad if I don't see sister on her birthday.

  "It's time for us to leave sweetheart. Promise us you won't spend all your time couped up in this house."

  "I promise mom. I'll probably hang out with Nathan and Mckenly." That's my two cousins. We are best friends.

  "Ok, well, we love you. Stay safe and we'll see you when we get back."I hug my mom and dad and watch them drive away.

  Now, what can I dp for the rest of the day? I think about calling Nathan and Mckenly but I remember they're on vacation for another week.
 
  "Welp, I guess I'll go to the park and draw." I grab my sketchbook, pencil, and colored pencils and put them in my bag.

  I rum upstairs and quickly change into some green shorts, a black tank top, and a jean jacket. I get downstairs and grab my bag. I go to walk out the door but I'm stopped by a tall figure standing in the way.

  "Hi is this the Whites residences?"

  "Umm." Was all I could say.

  "I was rented a bedroom out of the house for two months."

  What! Welp, there goes my park plans.
