Alicia's Pov
Why do I have to go to school? I am too tired. I need a three day weekend, instead of two.
And it's way too early to be getting up for school.
Why can't school start later in the day?
Don't teachers know that teenagers need a decent amount of sleep?
I mean school starts at 9:00, but I have to get up at 6:30 so I can pack my bag, get dressed, go on my phone for a while (as I have a bunch of school work to do when I get home and won't have time to watch Netflix or Youtube).
Then, I have to leave my house at 8:00 to be at the bus top by 8:10 to get the bus at 8:15. The bus is sometimes early so I learnt the hard way to always be at the bus stop by 8:10. On a normal day my school is only a ten minute drive away but during school mornings it takes 30-40 minutes to get to school due to all the traffic. I could walk but that would require exercise and I am not fit enough to carry my school bag for 25 minutes.
Also my school isn't air conditioned so I would be sitting in my classroom sweating from not only the usual heat but also from walking there.
And who in their right mind would want to sit next to a sweaty 16 year old girl?
I know I wouldn't.
And to make everything worse it's Monday. I don't know anyone that likes Monday.
But unfortunately for me I have to get up and go to school.
Let's just hope this is somewhat of a good day.
5 hours later...
Well my day just went from bad to worse. The bus was 10 minutes late, so I was late to school and got detention. That wasn't even my fault and now instead of enjoying my amazing ham and mayonnaise sandwich during lunch, I have to spend it in a classroom.
And to make things even worse, my maths teacher was away today so I got stuck with some rude stuck up substitute, who didn't know what to do and wouldn't even let us go on our phones. So I was stuck for 1 hour in a class room sweating and staring at my blank notebook.
And now I am on my way to a lunch detention where I will just sit and sweat even more in some old class room.
Walking in, I notice that there are these really comfy lounge chairs in the back of the classroom. Maybe the universe does love me. I start to put my bag down to sit in the chair when a rude high pitch voice yells and booms across the classroom...
"You can't sit there. Go and find a seat somewhere else!"
Seriously? She couldn't even politely ask me to move?
So much for teachers setting examples for students.
I, Alisha the 16 year old, actually have the decency to apologise to her (as I was actually raised to have manners) before finding a vacant normal (to her standards) chair.
Just as I sit down I hear some more people walk in through the door. Then I hear the most annoying words I have ever heard in my life.
"Boys your late! Just take a seat in those chairs to your left."
And those chairs are THE COMFY CHAIRS that I was told not to sit in. Are you kidding me!!!!!
And people say teachers don't have favourites.
As if.
Oh and what do you know they are all on the football team.
No wonder they were allowed to sit there.
They have the privilege of being treated nicely and enjoying some of the perks of high school, unlike me.
It would be nice to one day be treated better than them.
But I doubt that will ever happen.
10 minutes later
Finally I have calmed myself down. They were only chairs after all. It's not like they were given $1000 or anything like that.
I heard light footsteps approaching the door and turn around to see it's my friend Liv. Finally someone normal will be in detention with me.
She smiles and waves at me and I wave back at her. She goes to sit down at one of the comfy chairs that are free but also got scolded at the teacher and told to sit a a desk closer to her.
After 20 minutes the bell rings and finally I can leave. I'm STARVING but no I can't eat my lunch now since I have economics and my teacher won't let us eat in class.
Hopefully she'll let me eat it outside quickly.
As I turn to walk up the stairs I see a guy standing next to them.
He's staring down at his phone so he doesn't notice me.
He's a little taller than me and has a musclear build, but not too musclear that he could me mistaken for a 20 year old. He has dark brown hair (almost black), blue eyes and fair skin. I can tell it use to be tanner though as his arms have quite a few freckles covering them and it looks like they were sun kissed during summer.
His looks aren't what catch my attention though. It's the look on his face.
He looks a bit sad and... regretful, like something is haunting him.
I hope he's alright.
"Hey are you ok" I ask him, with concern in my voice.
I wonder who he is? He doesn't look familiar. Then again I don't know every single person in my grade as there are 350 of us.
"Yeah, just tired." He responds in a neutral tone. He doesn't even really look at me but just glances before going back to his phone.
There's more to the story but I'm not going to push it. It's none of my business.
"Well the bell went about five minutes ago. I hope you won't be in trouble for being late." I tell him.
I know I'll probably be. It's not my fault though. It took me 6 minutes to walk across the school to where my next class was. My bag weighs a ton.
"Nah I'll be fine" he responds with no emotion again before he starts to walk away, not even looking at me.
What a jerk.
He could've been a little nicer but I guess it's not worth thinking about too much. He looks like he's having an even worse day than me and I didn't think that could be possible considering the day I've had so far.
..........................
1 hour later
Finally the school day is over. I can go home and relax. Well first I have to do all the homework I was given then I can relax.
As I take my seat on the bus next to the window I see movement through my proriferal vision. I turn to look out the window and see stairs guy. I know its not a great name but I have no idea what his actual name is. He still looks sad and... defeated.
He walks over to his SUV, throw his bag in the back seat and then slam the door, hard, like he almost wants to punch the door. Wow that confirms his day was way worse than mine.
He walked towards the driver seat but instead of getting in the car he stops.
Is he waiting for someone?
He turns around but instead of looking at the main entrance to the school he stops and looks directly at me.
I looked around the bus assuming to see someone waving at him or something but everyone was is their phones.
I looked back and he was still standing there.
Was he looking at me?
Then his lips start to curve and form a smile.
Was he smiling at me?
He turns back around and gets into his car before driving out of the school parking lot.
Who was he?
Well whoever he is he just made my day not so bad after all.
