This is the story of freedom, of peace and inner strength. About someone who discovers that he can do more than he thought he would be capable of. This story is about a young wolf who roams in a forest in a distant land far from the known world…
It was a sunny day, sun shafts were breaking through the roof of leaves in the forest this story takes place. The leaves in the trees have a healthy, green color and they are making happy, thristling noises as a fresh summer wind blows through the forest. Birds are chirping in their nests high in the top of the trees as the forest slowly awakes. The grass is still a little wet because of the morning dew. If someone would have passed by they may have thought it looked like a scene from a Lord of the Rings movie of some sort and they wouldn’t pay much attention to it. It was quiet, it was peaceful.
And in this beautiful morning scene a wolf awakes because of the chirping birds. He opens his mouth, yawns and stretches himself out. This wolf is really big in comparison to his cousins in the forest of Canada or Alaska, like almost two times bigger! Nobody knows why he is like that, he just is. His fur is white with a black stripe of fur running across his back. His teeth are razor sharp and his eyes have a hazel-like color. As the wolf emerges from his den he breathes in the fresh air of the outside world. His chest swelling as he takes in a huge breath, clearing his head and thinking of his next meal. He goes to a little pond near his den to drink some water. As he bends over to drink he stops, like he almost freezes in place… a person couldn’t have noticed it but the wolf heard a teeny, tiny sound in his surroundings. As he stands as frozen as a statue he tries to locate and identify the sound. He stands like this for a solid five minutes before relaxing again and start drinking from the water.
After a while the wolf goes for a walk searching for food. He knows the path some elks like to take to their maddow's where they graze in the morning. As the wolf is about to enter the maddow’s he hides in the bushes at the edge of the big field. Elks are grazing in peace and they are not aware of the danger they are about to face. These elks where big, their antlers could destroy anything in their path and their hooves could trample any foe if the choose to do so. The wolf lurks at the edge of the field, looking for a opportunity to drive one elk away from the herd. He kneels down and starts to sneak really close to the elks… his heartbeat is raising and his senses are on high alert. He tries to stay low to the ground and walks into the wind so the elks can’t smell him either.
Suddenly, the wolf jumps from his hiding spot onto the back of a elk trying to take the animal down. The elk fights back trying to buck the wolf of, but the wolf his size and weight have clear advantage and he wears the animal down. He looks the elk into his eyes with fury, anger and pure ferocity before killing the animal with a powerful bite of his mighty jaws. After the kill the wolf cries, as if he mourns for the elk’s death. He takes the neck of the animal into his mouth and starts dragging it back to his den in the forest.
When the wolf gets back he looks at the elk with a tear in his eye… then he seems to wake up and start to eat from the elk’s corpse. As the wolf is eating he suddenly hears the sound from before the hunt. He stops eating, blood drips from his chin onto the forest floor and even the birds stopped chirping. This time the sounds was much louder and he could recognize a roar of some sort. This wolf doesn’t know any fear, for his size and strength make him almost undefeatable against any creature in the forest. But this time he got scared. He knew any sound of any beast, animal and creature in the forest but he never heard something so monstrous and so… so evil… the wolf decides to investigate the sound. He leaves the elk behind and he goes back into the dense forest. He is cautious he doesn’t run into anything or anyone. He stalks through the woods for almost the rest of the day. Sniffing anything he doesn’t trust, investigating everything that seems out of the ordinary. When the sun is starting to go low and the evening wants to settle in the wolf decides to go back to his den and get a good night’s rest before continuing his search in the morning.
As he walks back to his den he watches his surroundings very closely, shadows, trees, almost everything seems scarier at night. He knows that the trees are there, the rocks, the bushes and all the other nature. He was never afraid for anything in the forest. He liked the forest at night, but this time he is alarmed by any sound or any twig that breaks under his mighty paw. It is starting to get foggy and the wolf feels like his is being watched. Normally he wouldn’t mind it because he would know he could take on everything that might threaten him, but this time he got scared and he starts to run back to his den. He wants to be safe, far away from the dark forest and the thing that roared that afternoon.
While he runs like the wind he hears a roar, so close, so fierce and so evil that he freezes in place. He turns around expecting to see a big creature chasing him but instead he sees nothing, just, fog..? The wolf turns back and continues to walk back home when out of nowhere he hears a scream like if something is being tortured by the Devil himself. The wolf runs, he runs faster than his legs could carry him and then out of nowhere a projectile flies through the fog and impales the wolf in his chest… a big piece of a tree impaled his chest, through his lungs. The wolf looks down in horror, yelping for the first time in his life as he falls down to the ground. Blood is flowing from the wound coloring the earth around him red.
Then, out of nowhere something steps into the open spot where the wolf lays on the ground. Picking up the beast with a enormous claw he brings the wolf to his face to look at him, he sniffs at the wolf's body and then starts, to laugh. Not a normal laugh, like a crazy, maniacal, psychopathic, monstrous laugh. As the thing that is holding the wolf laughs hysterical he throws the wolf away. He then grab him again to cut his stomach, he tortures the wolf, ripping the fur from his body, breaking his nose and ripping the tail of his body. He then laughs even harder and more hysterical before throwing away the wolf’s body before leaving the spot…
No living soul would be able to recognize the pile of meat and fur as a once majestic wolf. The wolf has been deformed, tortured and killed in the most brutal way that would be possible. As the fog is starting to clear up and the forest starts to live again no living animal, beast or creature is in sight of the spot where the corpse is lying on the ground. Now that the fog is cleared up you are able to see pieces of meat and fur on the ground and the trees. The beautiful scene of the morning is turned into a scene from a nightmare…
And then the wolf wakes up! He checks his nose, tail, fur and stomach. He is alright! Everything is fine, it was just a dream. Everything was just a dream… As he emerges from his den to check his surroundings for any scary things he doesn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. It feels like everything seems so much more beautiful after that nightmare, the wolf feels relieved.
He goes back to the pond because he was really thirsty. As he bends over wanting to drink from the crystal clear, fresh water he freezes. He hears a sound… it was a sound he heard before in his live, one time… it was the sound from the nightmare… he looks up to find the creature from his dream staring at him from the other side of pool. The thing has bloodthirst in his eyes and he stand as still as a statue just looking at the wolf. The wolf stares back at the thing observing it and thinking of a fight or to flee. The thing suddenly wades into the water, moving towards the wolf, his claws raised in anger and roaring like a monster from Hell. His roar is so intense birds stop chirping, everything turns quiet and it seems like the time has stopped. The wolf is scared, he doesn't know what to do and by thinking of his last dream he doesn’t want to fight it. The thing is getting closer and closer, slowly but steady. The wolf wants to flee but he doesn’t know if he should or get rid of the thing that might terrorize the rest of the forest if he doesn’t do anything about it! He knows that he is strong, he knows how to fight, he knows how to kill… the thing is close now and suddenly strikes with his massive claws at the wolf. The wolf jumps out of harm's way and adrenaline is rushing through his body. He jumps at the thing biting it in his neck, the thing screams and he tries to grab the wolf from his neck. The wolf bites again and he strikes hard and fast. His primal rage is activated and he feels amazing! His senses are high, his strength is at 100% and he finally got the change to unleash his full furry on this monster.
He feels like he is finally fighting the fight he was meant to fight. He is fast, strong and striking with deadly blows. The monster is dancing around the wolf trying to strike him with its claws but every single blow is miss. The wolf jumps in for the final blow he roars with such rage the monster is petrified for a second. Rage is visible in the wolf’s eyes, he is going to kill, feeding on his corpse, killing the thing he hated the most at this very moment. He launches at the neck of the beast snapping it with such a mighty bite of his jaws that his bite would be able to break stones. The monster falls to the ground, dead… the wolf succeeded and he walks away from the corpse, trying to rest his body for a second. He is heavy breathing and sweating. He is tired but satisfied… He got what he wanted and he stayed the dominant predator of the forest for a very long time...
