Steve fell from the Tri-Carrier while the Winter Soldier hung on for dear life. The memories of a man he didn't know were rushing through his mind. Then one that made him change it.
As Steve fell to the water the memory of Steve's mothers funeral wiggled into his mind.
"Bucky, Bucky! I can get by on my own."
The Winter Soldier remembered placing his hand on the small mans shoulder and said, "the thing is, you don't have to. I'm with you till the end of the line, pal." The Winter Soldier let go of the support beam he was holding on to and went after Steve. It was like Daja vu. It was like the Winter Soldier had been in this situation before and dragging Steve out of the water made the Deja vu feel more real. The man that lay dying before him was a stranger, his mission, and yet... his friend.
"I don't know you and yet I've know you my whole life. You say you're my friend. Captain America-" The Winter Soldier was cut off from his own thoughts when several SHIELD agents surrounded him and Steve.
