I sat in the doctor's patience room, nervously tapping my fingertips on the wooden arm rest. I bit down on my lip. My doctor's office door was slightly open. I could see my mother sitting in a chair along with my father. She held a tissue in one hand and father's in the other. I wonder what was so serious? I've never seen mother cry.
The door closed, I sighed. The room wasn't sound proof, but I could only hear mumbles. I got up and walked to the door, pressing my ear against the gray-stained glass window.
"Are you sure?" I heard my mother's weak voice.
"Yes, I'm afraid. I've done many test, including x-rays. Days ago I diagnosed her with Breast Cancer. It's now spreading to her brain." . . . "She only has three months left. . ." My heart started racing. Did I hear her right? The door opened, I almost fell over but I caught my self.
My mother and father booth looked at me with downed-looks. My mom quickly hugged me. My father soon joined. I hugged both of them tight. I looked back at the doctor, her expressions seemed like nothing. Tears started pouring, I couldn't believe my life would be cut short.
