Just as soon as May was about to direct Blair's attention to the boy, he vanished. One second he was there. The next it was as if he had melted into the shadows.

One thing May did notice however was the red and grey uniform of her school, the red vest over the light grey polo and dark grey pants that the boys were required to wear.
That meant he would be attending her school. So May decided right then that she was going to find this boy and confront him demanding answers about the gold lights around his hands.

Blair didn't seem to take any notice to May's distracted thoughts and dropped her off at her first class without saying a word.

Did you hear?

He's here!

That boy is at our school!

May walked into her homeroom to hear an overabundance of excited whispers filling the air.

It didn't take her long to piece together which boy everyone was chattering about. What she didn't know was that the boy's face was all over this magazine one of the girls had brought to the school.

His dark green hair, swooping over his forehead, paired with similarly dark green eyes. One would have to either be extremely blessed or extremely lucky to be born with an eye color lile that in May's opinion.

"It's Jake Lace!!! He's here!!" The same girl with the magazine practically squealed.

Basically every girl, and even some of the guys, were drooling over the simple pictures of the boy. May did not want to be there when they saw him in real life.
In fact she was pretty sure that the school walls wouldn't be standing after that scenario occured.

Not that she wouldn't mind it, it would be exciting, but she also wanted people to calm down.
Mainly because she knew she wouldn't be able to get anywhere close to him to ask about the golden lights if there was this much of a ruckus.

And so the rest of the day went on like the normal boring day, though it had a buzz of excitement behind it. Even when May was walking through the halls, she felt people's sweltering whispers as if they were a tangible thing.

She didn't even notice the crowd of people around her, her nose in her book as she walked, until she slammed into someone's back and fell on her butt.
Her book went flying, spinning across the floor and stopped once it bumped against someone's shoe.

May's breath caught in her throat as she saw her book close to so many feet.

Someone bent down and picked it up, for a moment, May was frozen, thinking that they were going to take her most prized possession.
The crowd parted suddenly and Jake Lace stood there, holding out her book to her with one hand, the other hand held out as an offer to help her up.

Offering to help her up? Normally in circumstances like this one the kids would be laughing or at least taunting her by holding her book out of reach.

May gratefully took his hand, smooth yet it felt like it had a sense of powerful destruction capable to demolish anything it touched.
Jake Lace pulled her to her feet and May took her book back.

Suddenly Blair emerged from the crowd, not even noticing Jake, she walked straight over to May.

"Are you okay?" She asked, worry clear in her tone as she held onto May's shoulders to keep her attention from wavering to the oddly silent crowd.

May's eyes darted to people's faces in the crowd, and could tell that some people were confused over Blair's reaction.

She could almost hear their thoughts saying, why isn't Blair fawning over Jake? Doesn't she know who he is?
