Prescott's childhood had been fairly normal. However, just like everyone in his family, the biggest shock of his life arrived too when the family of his paternal aunt died in a plane crash. In that accident, Cott lost his cousin - Darius - who was of the same age as his. He was barely able to come in terms with the loss when his sister moved away for five years and he had no one to share his room and heart with. Nevertheless, the time passed and he got used to her absence eventually. Slowly but surely, he started drifting away from his family. At the age of fourteen, he was crushing on one of his friends in school. But he was yet to come out of his closet, and did not know how to approach his family about that. It wasn't like Geff and Ash - his parents - were too strict and he thought they would never respect his choices, it was just his internal war with himself, he could never bring himself to come out in open.
By the age of sixteen, Prescott was completely changed. From a jovial and happy kid, he became more reserved and solemn. No jokes, no puns in his life. Sad life, really! Although he did enjoy family get together nonetheless. After five years, when Tina returned home, Cott wasn't sure how be himself around her. She was changed. She was all grown up now. And a part of him was absolutely terrified just by thinking, she would see the changes in him and would be disappointed. Soon she would fall in love with someone and would get married. And would eventually move away from him. Then what was even the use of reducing this awkward distance between them? Hence, he kept everything to himself.
