Alora didn't really know what to do. Her parents had locked her room. She had no idea what drove her parents to do that.

She had gone out. Not even outside her house. She had just gone to the backyard. It was just for a few minutes. She wanted to see what it was like to be outside. How come she didn't get that freedom?

She yearned for the feeling of fresh, dewy grass in the mornings that she read about in her all her books. How the sun would warm her skin as it shined on her. She wanted to feel like those beautiful birds she saw on tv shows. She wanted to go out. She just had to.

It wasn't difficult, sneaking outside that is. All she did was go out of room and then go down the stairs with out making any noise. She had to make sure that the locks on the door weren't to noisy to be noticed. She was wary of the door as well. She felt excitement and also nervousness from making sure the door didn't squeak or have that shrill sound from the movement.

As she made her way outside she felt her body relax as the dewy air in the morning hit her. She felt that cool breeze she yearned for.
" I'm out!" she thought.

She was making her way out. Readying her body for the sun to kiss her skin. A few steps to feel like those birds. A few steps on the grass for her to feel what she always dreamed of.

But it stopped. she heard the screams. She felt arms wrap around her her body. She felt all excitement wash away. She felt the dread of her being taken away from her goal. She felt herself    go back as her father held on to her.

"Alora, what are you thinking!?" He said.

" I just wanted to let the sun kiss me," she replied. With confusion in her voice.

" Honey, you should of told. I would have let you done it," he said as a sigh escaped his lips. " We have to take of your skin before you go out" he said.

" Okay papa."

As she made her way to her room she thought about the way her father reacted.
" Hey papa, is there something wrong with me?"

" No hon, I just don't want you to get sick like your Mama."

"Okay," she responded with a pout.

This was Alora's life. Her dad always protecting her. But she just didn't understand why.
