that bad things happen to good people;
that it was meant to be.
Such words had never spun a hatred so deep,
not until their reality phased into existence
and left nothing but broken pieces
in her chest.
Squeezing her lungs; breaking her heart.
Depriving her of the oxygen she needed
to simply breathe.
After that, it was always a wonder
how someone so soft
could be ruined by the toxins of the world
in the span
of one single moment.
